(This article is specifically about image-based abuse, but DeKeseredy’s earlier work on male support theory is cited and built upon within it)
DeKeseredy and Schwartz (1993) revised it to take into account broader social forces. They assert that abusive patriarchal men situated in a patriarchal rape-supportive culture have male friends with similar beliefs and values who act to develop and then reinforce beliefs and values that promote the abuse of women, and in particular those women who represented a threat to male patriarchal authority (Schwartz & DeKeseredy, 1997). These men provide attachments to other abusive men, and resources that involve specific verbal and emotional support. This includes a vocabulary of motive that defines some women as legitimate objects of abuse and sexual assault. Nearly 30 years of international quantitative and qualitative research (as outlined in DeKeseredy & Schwartz, 2013) in a variety of contexts confirms that male peer support allows men to feel normal and justified when committing violence against current and former intimate partners.

What the public does not understand about these retaliatory cases is that what is on trial is the ability for men to abuse their power against women without consequence. When women lose defamation lawsuits for speaking up, men win the right to abuse with impunity

I love when the members of Congress - both Dems and Republicans - about things like whether ICE should have to use judicial warrants or be banned from deporting citizens like they're new.

These things are already the law! ICE just isn't following the law.

Rep. Mark Harris: "Some of these things are nonstarters. Having judicial warrants? To me, hat's a nonstarter. Being able to make off their mask, putting them at risk? That's a nonstarter. I would say anything that's going to hamstring the work of ICE, that's just not going to go anywhere."

Again, this is FALSE. Administrative warrants are NOT signed by an immigration judge (or any judge at all). They are generated and signed by ICE officers themselves with no external oversight whatsoever.

Here is a blank sample warrant. Note who signs off on it; an "immigration officer."

I like it when I can do something to help people displaced by ICE and then after I do that thing I get to eat a pizza.
I want to let you know about something that happened at Pizza Luce and encourage you to thank and patronize them. One of the drivers at Parkway Pizza who is a friend of mine told me tonight about something that happened at the downtown Mpls Pizza Lucé where his wife works. A kitchen manager has been giving rides to workers afraid to take public transportation to work. Last week, two ICE SUVs pulled her over. There was a young Latina women in the car and ICE grabbed her. She is here legally, but apparently, if you are not white, you need to carry a passport or other documents with you. Despite the fact that she is here legally, ICE flew her to their detention facility outside of El Paso, TX. Fortunately, the owner of the Pizza Lucé chain paid for a lawyer to expedite her release. Unfortunately, when ICE is forced to release people they have unlawfully detained and flown to Texas, they do not fly them back. They just dump them on the streets of El Paso. But again, fortunately, the owner of Pizza Lucé paid for a plane ticket to fly her home. So please thank the folks at Pizza Lucé if you have the chance. Dozens of Minnesotans have not been so lucky as this woman and are trying to find their way back from Texas. Today's NY Times has a story about "Selamawit Mehari, an Eritrean single mother of three.... federal agents showed up at her apartment in St. Paul...(even though) her older daughter produced paperwork proving her mother was in the United States lawfully, the agents shackled Ms. Mehari and took her away." The story cites many like her who "were eventually released in Texas, leaving them to find their own way home."

In a different email, Epstein followed up with Tisch after he’d connected with one of the women: “report just in, you did very well, she wants to go to the play, she is a little freaked by the age difference but go slow … i will try to convince her not to return to Ukraine. having her crying worked.” Tisch responded: “Nice report … Funny comment on crying!!!” There are also emails between Epstein and women in which they discuss meeting with Tisch. Some reference the possibility that Tisch could help them with their acting careers.
