This thread went off the rails. I'm genuinely perplexed. My point: some profs act like they’ve been assigned a side and must argue it like a competition. Remember, this entire charade started because of a *𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐦* that “an entire literature” existed questioning birthright citizenship.
The anti-birthright citizenship element in the legal academy has all the hallmarks of a high school debate club and none of actual scholarship.

abolish ice. theres no middle road on this and democrats will have to be held to it.
ICE detain father shopping on Christmas Eve—then steal his family's groceries.

Then 3 agents divvy up his paid for food—taking what they want for themselves.

"Can I just get the wife's number to call and let her know?" woman asks.

"No, guess he should've complied," agent says.

Alcoholism has its own laws, of course.
Airports are lawless places. What do you mean you're eating Panda Express with a double mimosa at 10am?*

Ah, Christmas Eve. When straight folk explain to each other why they must use the F-slur in The Pogues's Fairytale of New York.

a lot of people don't realize that Christmas carols and traditions are actually folk memories of suppressed pre-Christian events, namely the end of the Third Age and the Fall of Sauron.

The Pudding did a great story that looked at this - fanfic shipping and they dug into who IRL gets shipped and the biggest category as of 2024 was BTS members and One D members.

I also don't think you should ship/fanfic real people.

I've taught college for 26 years. I've never not used blue books for midterms and finals.
Does anyone else bristle at this framing? WSJ says blue books are “torturing” students with hand cramps, and “nobody likes them.”

Listen, students have been outsourcing everything to AI and cheating their way through college. Blue books should be celebrated as a return to authentic human learning.
They Were Every Student’s Worst Nightmare. Now Blue Books Are Back.
Cheating with ChatGPT has become a huge problem for colleges. The solution is painfully old-school.

The implosion of the Heritage Foundation is a sign that Trump-curious legal conservatives have lost faith in Donald Trump and sense his demise, and will taken by courts as a signal to resist more.
