www.tumblr.com/noddytheorni... A rant about the "social media ban" that is about to be enforced in Australia, why I think it's incredibly dangerous, and how I will be engaging with the Internet going forward.

I don't have that many expectations for VENDPOCALYPSE THE MUSICAL but I can't help but wonder... is it possible they will do a season cliffhanger? Like, seasons 5 and 6 were ordered at the same time, so the latter was always going to get made.

I've found this site to get more engagement reliably for my art that doesn't have "mass appeal". My followers actually SEE my posts here unlike on the bird site. That site is still easier to get bigger numbers on, but big number means NOTHING compared to having your followers actually seeing you.
Oh my god bruh you only have 300 followers here, of course you’re not getting as much engagement

1) Four hospitals in Alberta have brought back mask mandates and Alberta HATES mask mandates. They're not doing this for fun.

2) I travel constantly for work and you better believe I mask. Laughing at me isn't going to stop me.

I recently watched, with great surprise and disappointment, a weeklyshowpodcast segment in which you and other "personalities," gleefully mocked and derided the relatively small subset of individuals who continue to wear a face mask in public.

Do you harbor similar feelings toward people you believe suffer from other mental disorders? If you're so easily triggered by people who wear a face mask in public, or annoyed with them for "salting your vibes," perhaps it is you who has the mental disorder and should be seeking professional help.

Even if you truly think that all of these mask wearers are simply suffering from some type of delusion or mental disorder, do you really feel that subjecting them to public shaming and ridicule is the most appropriate course of action and in their best interest?

These people aren't masking for shits and giggles- they are the immunocompromised, elderly, and others who are, or believe themselves to be, particularly vulnerable to infections of airborne viruses such as sars-cov-2, influenza, etc.

Also PLEASE! Form your own opinions. Watch what you enjoy, craft your own taste, come to your own conclusions. Media literacy is so weird rn and I truly think it’s cuz people let others tell them what to think with exaggerated click-mining takes. Don’t feed someone else’s pocket with outrage. 😭

I know it’s a pointless hope in ways, but I hope 2026 can be a more thoughtful year. For fandom, for artists. We already have so much shit that threatens art with AI and the industry crumbling. How about we just try some compassion. Whether you love or hate something, just don’t be a jerk about it.❤️

I wish the overall online landscape could be kinder, even when you dislike something there’s ways to express it without accusations and insults, ways to discuss different perspectives without fighting. I wish it was safer for creators and fans to co-exist. I try but sometimes it’s just pressure.

Having constant assumptions that we just have to ignore to do what we need to do. It gets so bad I really don’t know how much longer I can be on social media cuz it feels like everything is a gamble on whether people will even understand. It’s tough.

As an end of the year thing I’d like to express. It’s that truly I hope people realize how much we just know we will not please everyone. And how much it stresses us out. We are making things we are proud of, seeing and knowing what can be expected and knowing we aren’t going to be able to give it.

There’s no way companies don’t know this. Either they don’t care out of a preference to performatively take action or they *want* to enable the most hateful and predatory people on their platforms. Either way, they are willing accomplices.

Censoring words but not meaning is strictly malicious.

TikTok, YouTube, and others provide active cover for Nazis both current and historic, as well as illicit sellers, sex offenders, and anything else that benefits from the eradication of the language used to call them out.

Media platforms are aiding truly dangerous people in the name of “safety.”

While “unalive” is one of the tackiest examples, I’ve seen the Holocaust referred to as “The History,” Hitler as “The Dictator,” and Nazis not at all.

Who does that help? It sure as shit doesn’t help critics of nazism, but this is how YTers are speaking out of fear of demonization. Pure newspeak.

“Newspeak” comes up a lot in these conversations, and it’s no joke. The only difference between 1984’s premise and what we have now is that government intervention wasn’t required - TikTok and YouTube incentivized people to happily inflict it upon themselves.

Pre-compliance is how you get paid.

Tech platforms censor words, not meaning. It’s frighteningly insidious. This kind of censorship explicitly empowers bad actors by robbing their critics of the language to criticize.

Euphemisms are often the domain of fascists and predators. It’s a domain that online media wants to gate us inside.
