I'm Rain and I draw digital art mainly of anime and video game characters and my own OCs. My fav horror games are Darkwood, Dredge and Amnesia series.

I have some strong opinions about GenAI.
"In general, how do you feel about Discord integrating AI features? We'd love to hear your overall thoughts and any concerns you might have." "Do not. We don't need it, Discord is to make contact with humans, doing human things. It doesn't "help with creativity", because creativity is a human thing where we express emotions and ideas, and any input by a machine is worse than actually asking other people what they want. GenAI also takes away the earnings from creative jobs and puts it right in the hands of those who own the models, a few billionaires. People decide to trust AI rather than researching things, and are now convinced of falsehoods just because the models aren't actually intelligent or focused on facts, they just assemble sentences that *seem* right and plausible. Its users lose their own abilities to think and reason at an alarming rate, they become lazy and gullible. Its data centres drive up the prices of hardware, and gamers, one of your main target audiences, are greatly upset by that, since they can no longer afford to practice their hobby. They're also usually not powered by de-carbonated electricity, so they actively damage the environment. Also, again, a big AI has recently been letting users modify other people's images, users have immediately started making harmful and bigoted edits, and editing the clothes out of women and children. This is, in terms I won't try to make formal, messed up. Do. Not. Integrate. AI features. Into. Discord. At the moment, you are kings of community-building chatrooms, you dethroned IRC. The day you implement AI features is the day people will clamour for anyone else to emerge and bring them a client without it."

Too much?
In general? In general, I think any process that runs in some datacenter somewhere, making use of stolen human creativity, harming communities, consuming/polluting fresh water, causing energy prices to go up while convincing various companies to reduce their workforces in favor of "AI" replacements, is just off the table ethically. This technology, so long as it's this monumentally destructive and wasteful, is an ethical black hole. I would delete Discord from my life with extreme prejudice the moment I get a sniff of "AI" polluting the experience. I really can't word it strongly enough. Not only would I make sure that not a single bit on my machine was comprised of Discord data, I would become an anti-Discord evangelist. People in my life would grow to hate me, so often would I remind them that Discord sold out to the fools who bought into the "monorail" that is "AI" sold to them by hucksters building out runway in front of a traveling plane that will never take off. They'll soon fall behind, that plane will fall into the ocean, and the bubble will explode. Don't make Discord a victim of such a transparently obvious grift.

my comments to discord on their addition of AI I feel like every company is rushing to integrate 'ai' features into their apps and they are just awful. First of all, AI is a marketing term, there is no intelligence. Open AI encourages people to do drugs and kill themselves. Grok allows its users to make naked underage people. Research studies prove AI makes you less intelligent. Microsoft tells people not to use their own AI because i doesn't do math correctly. NOTHING GOOD has come from AI. and all you companies are just running to use it for reasons passing understanding. It provides no actual benefit, it damages the environment, it's built on theft, and the people who build it and promote it are actively horrible, and thus if you implement it, you too will be an actively horrible company.

Some of the coolest bugs in Asia’s rainforests are these female Lycid Beetles, that look like they’re from prehistoric ages!😱🦕

They retain their larval form as adults and feed on decaying matter in the leaf litter of the forest! 🍂
