The message from the White House this morning is that, once again, it falls on ordinary American citizens to remain calm and professional when dealing with the heavily armed agents of the government because they are very emotional and might fly off into a murderous rage at the slightest insult.

I can still recall all the tut-tutting from the media when Harris made this argument.
Kamala Harris at her closing campaign rally:

"Donald Trump intends to use the United States Military against American citizens who simply disagree with him."

It is impossible to overstate the degree to which the entire national political media's coverage of the 2024 presidential campaign, especially once Harris won the nomination, was deeply, fundamentally, shamefully unserious about the stakes & the candidates.

i mean i think a world where the US genuinely break NATO and launch an invasion of Greenland looks so alien to us that we will not be able to understand it
The thing I think folks struggle to appreciate with this stuff tho is however hard it is to wean Europe off US tech is *at least as hard* as it will be for US tech to get back into Europe after that type of transition kicks into high gear

Geopolitically, it would mean the US divides by zero. We do not know what will happen, and anyone who claims to know what comes next is lying to you.

But I have a strong feeling that it's not a world I'd want to live in.

This guy is in Minneapolis standing before an American citizen in an SUV.

The only reason he's brandishing an assault rifle is because he wants the people he's purportedly there protecting to feel terrorized by his presence.

This is not protection. This is occupation.

They won't have the numbers to occupy the nation and force everyone to comply, and that's why they're engaged in such an aggressive show of force. They're hoping we all get cowed into submission and do their work of suppression ourselves.

Once again, no.

The mantra remains "fuck you, make me."

She was protesting.

He told her to leave.

She was complying.

SHE TURNED THE WHEEL TO LEAVE.

Another agent tried to forcibly open her door.

She gave the car gas to leave.

He shot her in the face.

These are the facts of what happened.

Rep. @AOC: I understand that Vance believes shooting a young mother of three in the face three times is an acceptable America that he wants to live in, and I do not. That is a fundamental difference between Vance and I. I do not believe that the American people should be assassinated in the street.

It should be bigger news that masked agents were filmed hours ago removing potentially inculpatory evidence from the ICE shooter's house, clearly lacking evidence tags or chain of custody stickers.

Before we have word on whether he underwent a toxicology screen at the hospital following the killing

It’s wild that this is empirically true but not part of any political narrative.

American conservatives will look you right in the eye with a straight face and tell you that complete and utter subservience to masked federal police is patriotism, anything else deserves being executed in the street, and tax dollars for healthcare is tyranny.

My thought today is immigration cops shouldn't even be armed. Leave the violent criminals to properly trained law enforcement like the FBI. Paperwork violations are by definition nonviolent and don't require armed response.

My most important takeaway from that article: Tom Homan, Mr. Trump’s border czar, told CBS News that he would not make a judgement call on video circulating on social media of the shooting.

“Let the investigation play out,” Mr. Homan said, “and hold people accountable based on the investigation.”
“.. we told him that this angle did not appear to show an ICE officer had been run over.

“Well,” Mr. Trump said. “I — the way I look at it … ”
