this is the sorta stuff we'd get ib CRPG's if they didn't just sorta arbitrarily drop off in quality and industry support for an while in the late 2000's
this is why games need the Sakura Wars timed dialogue choice system where if all of the choices suck you can just wait out the timer by fucking staring at them and get a response to that instead

to muse on Halo further it's legitimately fascinating to me is that while the switching of genres and signing with Microsoft on the Xbox forced them to get economical with CE they still tried to pull out all the stops they could. Bungie had an hard time compromising but they took it well.

I have created a transparent status bar replacement for UZDoom. Even the automap is transparent! It works with Doom, Freedoom, Chex Quest, and Adventures of Square.
If you are playing a supported Doom mapset, different status bar gfx will automatically load, like for BTSX.

the Gradius I/II PCE ports are some of the most fun I've had with old arcade conversions. minor differences/sacrifices aside their very faithful and the extra stages included in both's rotation are quite good
