A bus of Bronx middle schoolers pulled up to the Capitol this morning for a long-planned field trip just a few hours after the government shut down.

All Capitol tours were cancelled as the guides can’t work in shutdown.

So I escorted them in myself and gave them a personal tour. They were great!

Watched The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (1977) and there's a part where a violent storm destroys their homes and sends Pooh & Piglet spiraling towards a waterfall while a totally oblivious Owl decides to tell a story and wait for someone else to help and I thought.. hey, that's Chuck Schumer!

Let's talk about free subscribers not mattering, because that is an absolute myth.

A simple click shows studio contacts that the audience cares enough to click through and click a button. The two second action can have MASSIVE impact, so please do not EVER feel weird about being a free subscriber.

Pickety Witch is now officially migrated from nazistack to Ghost.

I am blessed to have had so many people ask how they could help. For now, that answer is subscribing here, whether free or paid 🖤

Hello, beautiful coven. It's been a good, long while and, if I'm being entirely frank, I'd hoped our reconnection would be on better terms. But, here we are! And, yes, things do look differently than ...

August newsletter is out! 1,190 words on my summer reads, why Ross is America, and a few words on my growing anxiety. winsonshuen.com/2025/08/31/a...
A Direct Line to your Head 📚
1,190 words (6 min read time). 1 new mission statement. 2 read books. An interesting observation. And something cleansing, but gross.

Ooof while layoffs are never fun, I remember my time there to know how especially gut-wrenching layoffs are at IGN — a place where coworkers are often also friends who spend so much time working/traveling/gam together.
Today, IGN laid off eight extremely valuable members of our union and workforce via directive from our parent company, Ziff Davis. This, after two incredibly successful live events IGN Live and SDCC, and yet another corporate acquisition.

Please take a moment to read and share our full statement:

Though I don’t know him directly, it is insane to see someone who used to work at IGN on the daily to be on Late Night with Seth Meyer. Huge congrats on everything, Mike!

If you were too young in 2003 here is what Bush told the American people:

1) The Iraq War won’t cost a lot of money
3) We won’t need a lot of troops
4) We’ll bring peace and freedom to Iraq
5) We’ll find WMDs
6) We’ll be welcomed as liberators
7) It will be easy
8) It won’t take long

All lies.

A good gossiper "don’t mention that Mary is having a tough time with her sister-in-law and then drop it, they explain that her brother’s wife is a Disney adult who arranged for the entire family to spend their next Thanksgiving at Epcot"

There should be a self-help book on how to gossip THIS good!

A friend just asked me what I do to stay hopeful and I told him one of my favorite strategies…I stay hopeful by remembering that no one has any idea what the fuck is going to happen, so as long as we don’t know, we gotta do what we can.

@pettycommajared.bsky.social Ho there! So a while ago you “tweeted” about Dan Da Dan’s first episode and how off putting it was and it’s been weighing on my mind — mostly because I felt the same way as you did.

Costco had a real pre-lockdown vibe this morning. No empty shelves or real panic buying, which is great, but everyone was buying staples and non-perishable goods before tariffs hit.
