Beckett's trilogy. If I remember right, they're Molloy, Malone Dies, and The Unnamed. The books were so pithy and full of crunch at a time when I needed that in my head.

We can't ridicule while knowing that daycare workers in this country are dangerously underpaid. In many communities you might find they are barely vetted. It was just as bad when we had to send our kids to daycare.

I've been working on a book proposal and alternating between "this is meaningful" and "this is pointless," and a friend recently shared this quote that she stumble on in a Goodreads review: "Every book is a grand gesture of optimism on the part of both the reader and writer." Bystanders tried to step in, someone heard phone number from the child, called mom as her 12 year-old was arrested for...riding his bike? And released same day. The conduct of those police is awful. I've seen this same thing happen to others. Criminy we've got to do something about the police.
