I consumed a lot of little memorial tidbits yesterday but there was only one I couldn’t stomach. Maybe it read as performative, maybe it’s that news outlet focus on it over the silence on the other is so stark by comparison. I dunno. This whole thing still shakes me.

Police in Airdrie, Alberta (just north of Calgary) say this driver hit a 17-year-old girl in a marked crosswalk, got out of the vehicle, and appeared to get upset at the teenager before driving away.

They released this video and are now trying to identify the driver.

Not gonna lie, after 3/4 days of aura migraines, sometimes more than one a day, I’m starting to get terrified of if I can’t go back to work... financially we’d be fine and I need to remind myself that, but it limits us a LOT…

That’s my thought. It’s anxiety inducing knowing that I can’t get a boost until October, after the wave, when my understanding was that it’s effectiveness does wane a year out (ie when the wave hits).

I am truly a ridiculous human. I hate synthetic fabrics. So here I am, cutting into my swath of precious raw silk because it’s too narrow to use for any other part of me. Batting is Canadian wool. 🫣

The "AI" responses that Google gives about me and my work are consistently error-prone, which I know because I am me. If I know Google's "AI" responses give incorrect answers about things I know about, I can't trust it to give correct answers about things I don't know. So, no, I don't use it.

I think in the long run, the really big story of this era is that about a dozen absolutely massive corporations took control of unprecedented swaths of the economy, human attention, and the flow of information.

I think many of our problems are downstream from that.
