When Cambridge announced that it would close the Transitional Wellness Center, I helped lead the effort to save it. While we were able to win $1 million in vouchers for the displaced residents, the TWC never should have been closed in the first place. On the Council I will fight to replace it.

We're able to continue this level of support and increase the efficacy of our weekly distros through mutual aid and we would greatly appreciate any spare change you may be willing to send our way. These contributions would go towards purchasing tents and other vital supplies.

A pile of belongings gathered into plastic bags and bins, including cooking supplies, tents, and hygiene items, which all had to be moved due to the sweep or else risked getting thrown out. This pile comprises the entirety of a person’s belongings. Text overlay reads: “We are a working class organization that fights to reduce the harms of capitalism being faced by the most oppressed members of our class. An attack on the unhoused is an attack on everyone that works for their bread. We’re able to continue this level of support through mutual aid, a survival tactic that the working class has been forced to utilize since wage labor emerged.”

It's not lost on me that the majority of the folks doing ICE watch stuff in my area of Massachusetts are women, two of whom stopped an abduction with their presence over the weekend. In spite of all the risks, people *are* fighting to protect their neighbors and that should give us hope.

This kind of shit is going to have a huge chilling effect on people trying to do ICE watch and mutual aid work. Like, JB Pritzker is encouraging people to film ICE, which is good, but there are many, many people who are just not going to put their bodies on the line (and I don't judge them for that)

Once a university lawyer told me, somewhat more politely & in more words, "it's nice that union members showed up to court for Rümeysa but y'all don't understand how these legal processes actually work."

& I just feel so sad for this lawyer, that she's never experienced solidarity & what it can do.
