Amazing: Comet ATLAS formed some 8 billion years ago. It made about 3 dozen circuits around our galaxy. It entered our our solar system & just passed 30 million kilometers from Mars...

...where ESA's ExoMars orbiter captured these images of the interstellar comet! 🧪🔭

One that bothers me instinctively is that it would be entirely historically accurate if the characters in Dracula took a break to play Nintendo and drink Coca Cola. But they probably wouldn't do that

this is only surprising if you cannot comprehend the difference between "pay Amazon $1.7 billion to open an office" and "build 15,000 housing units across 54 blocks of warehouses"
upshot.nytimes.com
Years ago, progressives defeated a plan to build headquarters for Amazon in Queens. Now a new kind of development is gaining their support. From NYT Metro:

i suppose if your stock went up 65% in the past year your shareholders are probably expecting a business that's more profitable than manufacturing, say, paper products.

"Hikaru Nakamura, the #2 player in the world and five-time US champion, had flown in as a last-minute entrant, making him far and away the top player in the building [...] He was exploiting an arcane loophole on a much larger mission to become the next chess world champion."
The Latest Controversy in Chess Is the Cupcake Gambit
World No. 2 Hikaru Nakamura needed to hit a minimum number of games for a shot at the world championship. He sparked a firestorm by beating up on lower-ranked players to get there.

Nineties comic books were crazy, because folks would really be out in the street beating people's asses dressed like this. Tell me that Black Canary wouldn't have rolled out in something like that--with fishnets, of course.

Every month, we write about the most popular content around the internet. For the first time, I'm proud to say that we're on our own list! @panicworld.com was Patreon's fastest-growing podcast last month.
Despite this, there’s one source of news about the shooting that’s gotten a lot of attention in September: Us, apparently. According to Graphtreon, Panic World was the fastest-growing Patreon in September for the “podcast” category, with over 1,300 new subscribers this month. Our own reckoning puts as as number 12 across the whole website — first place, of course, goes to a porn game with over 3,300 new Patrons — but we’ve never even come close to making our own lists before, so we think we’ve earned the brag.
