I've been banging this drum for the past four months or so: DOGE and Russ Vought broke the appropriations process. What's the point of going through the arduous process of crafting 12 spending bills, clearing them through committee and getting them through two chambers if Trump does rescissions?

I think you’re right that he played this a tic too conservatively. There’s no one covering second, so he shouldn’t need to worry about getting back-picked if the bunt doesn’t happen.

Muncy has to field the ball cleanly, spin, and make a good throw to Betts who is arriving at the bag at basically the same time as the ball *and* the runner. There’s a lot that could go wrong!

The notion that Bari will be "running CBS News" is slightly misleading. What the reporting suggests is that Tom Cibrowski, a guy with normal qualifications, will be doing that. Bari will be Emperor Ellison's Vader-esque enforcer, outside the chain of command, intervening at will.
