What makes the passing of actors like Udo Kier extra poignant is that he was a reminder of a career film industries across countries and on multiple levels no longer exist to support. The vagabond weirdo who can show up in Criterion Collection darlings and DTV sequels, and be the best part of both.

I agree with this 100%- but I also want to give context to how ‘all’ often becomes ‘one’-immigration policy in US stands as a relationship between a govt and an individual. While ‘Mexicans cross the border,’ ‘Jose Martinez’ has to petition the govt to become citizen.
I get why people are focusing on Kilmar Abrego Garcia, but we should be demanding the return of every single person ICE abducted and that the Trump administration trafficked to El Salvador.

I don't care if they're an angel or a terrorist.

Everyone deserves due process and a chance in court.

I'm halfway through this article & like (and agree with) the points made thus far.

But I want to have an aside on how people uncritically use the term "foundation models" & "reasoning," when it is very likely that the models memorized all these benchmarks. 🧵

old great aunt prove her citizenship to vote in rural georgia, this definitely isn’t reminiscent of anything in the american past
🧵 There are a lot of misleading claims out there about the SAVE Act. Let me set the record straight: I voted for the SAVE Act for the simple reason that American elections are for Americans. Requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote is common sense.

Asia opened to a brutal selloff.

Banks across Japan and Australia were hammered out of the gate.

FX markets had wild volatility.

Bonds rallied hard.

Some recovery since the open, but the stress is still very visible.

Here’s an update on where things stand.

Reminder as you're reading this that the part about right of return is a super common zionist inversion - what is unique vis-à-vis Palestinians & Palestine & the right of return is not that Palestinians *demand* it but that they are *denied* it. The right of return is *international law.*

Teslas stock is actually going down though

And protesting Musk as an entity the best place is Tesla because it’s visible

Mass protests hit the visbile spots and the Tesla protests have been fantastic in clarity of message
Thinking about the culture war that surrounded Keurig, Gillette, and Nike for a hot minute a couple years ago and how the popularity of videos of people trashing their own stuff was estimated to be worth BILLIONS in an equivalent ad campaign.
I think folks are underestimating the fact multiple points of protest work

And in the same way they are shocking and awing

People who are new to protests or in places where this can have an impact can do this part of the work while other people do other things
