Seizure medication, wheelchairs, Social Security cards, dentures, urns of ashes, work uniforms — just some of what's been thrown away during cruel, degrading, utterly counterproductive homeless sweeps.

A good time to revisit this gutting @propublica.org story:

Hey @wmata.com - if you want to improve ridership, be more predictable and communicate delays and why. It’s not okay to have rides that normally take 45 min stretch into an hour and 15 min without explanation. People need info to plan accurately. If you expect delays bc of this security bs, say so.

Wtf is up with @wmata.com this week. The train I’m on now is stopping every other stop for 5-10 min with no explanation given. This is not acceptable, they should at least explain so people can gain better understanding of when they’ll be able to get to their destination. Same thing day before last.

This is Nick Begich (R-Alaska). If he votes for the bill,
37,000 of his constituents lose access to their healthcare.
27,000 of his constituents lose access to their food assistance.
578 energy jobs in his district will disappear.

Every member of congress who votes for this reconciliation bill will be voting to cut Medicaid coverage and food assistance for hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians.

The impact of this vote would be devastating — and it will be on them.

Not to mention that the way this provision is written, it gives the Secretary the unilateral power to decide whether to approve the waivers at all. With this admin, it makes Murkowski a forced stooge for them - lest she piss them off and they deny the very flexibilities she fought for.

And more importantly why isn’t this station skipping being listed on your service alert site @wmata.com
@wmata.com why is red line to Glenmont skipping takoma?

Things are moving quickly, but it looks like these Sen's especially need calls from *constituents* to vote NO on cloture:

Angus King (ME)
Amy Klobuchar (MN)
Jacky Rosen (NV)
Brian Schatz (HI)
Maggie Hassan (NH)
Jeanne Shaheen (NH)
Gary Peters (MI)

Capitol switchboard is 202-224-3121.
This is NEW today. AOC sent this 11 am. Friday morning.

Yes, your calls are still needed. The vote is in the early afternoon. There is still time!
KEEP CALLING. PEEL OFF ALL DEM SENATORS YOU CAN.

☎️: (202) 224-3121

Tell them to vote NO on Cloture and NO on CR. Vote is pushed to after 1:15ish for now. Situation is fluid.

The only public YES votes are Schumer and Fetterman. They need 7-8 total. KEEP CALLING.

Call retiring Senators too!

19-20 months from now, Trump will have pushed the economy off a cliff and left the civil service a smouldering husk. If you're a Democratic elected and you think a government shutdown from a CR fight is gonna be the thing voters remember, you need your fucking head examined.

If you vote for this Republican Funding Bill, you are complicit in all that DOGE, President Elon, and Trump does.

Schumer's logic here also dictates getting rolled on the debt ceiling and on next year's budget. I think he's got to go
Schumer: "For sure, the Republican bill is a terrible option. It is not a clean CR. It is deeply partisan. It doesn't address far too many of this country's needs. But I believe allowing Donald Trump to take even much more power via a government shutdown is a far worse option."

If there is a mechanism for the minority to remove their leader in the Senate, the Senate Dems should act to remove @schumer.senate.gov and show that they recognize - he’s not the man for the moment and the moment demands a person that will lead boldly and fearlessly.
March 13, 2025 at 11:50 PM
Won’t give to Senate Dems, to be clear. House Dems did their part. I expected at least one more defector among them but they held strong and deserve the credit.
Fuck @schumer.senate.gov for his inept and spineless leadership. Shame on your for the pain your will cause DC and for capitulating to these people. I will not give a dime to democrats moving forward. Period.
