The idea of new things being good is directly oppositional to the idea that old things (specifically surface traditions and aesthetics) are always better.

That something new can be just as valid as something old is an insult to people who built their identity around _their_ old ideas being best.

The people pissed off about trans people in media accessible to children aren't angry about their kids being corrupted, they're angry about their kids learning that their own feelings, beliefs, and choices are important in determining who they grow up to be.
