A concierge for animals. An imperfect film enthusiast. Star Trek was my first and lasting love. Here for fun!

Quick note about me:
Profile pix is of my dog. I love my dog.

I’m a blue dot in a red place. That means I’m on here for my enjoyment and/or to comment. Not here for arguments about politics. I get enough of that irl.

Film/TV/Music/Sports/Photography/Astronomy/science are my main interest.
This. I’m sure others had their own experiences with the man that don’t align with this but humans are a complicated mess. But this is the story I hoped to see today about the man who brought us some wonderful movies.
I’m just going to tell the story. Back in 2000 I was volunteering for the Gore campaign when he came along with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Alfre Woodard and Dule Hill to a GOTV event here in MN. He ended up sitting down across from me stuffing his envelopes.

I’m hoping this is someone’s first day in Marketing and not an actual representation of the shows vibes.

What's your unpopular Star Trek opinion?

The Federation is a human-centric organization that undercuts its claims to be equal membership for its participants.
What's your unpopular Star Trek opinion

Part of why 90's Star Trek got better post-Roddenbury is because it continued to be secular and focused on IDIC but stopped being anti-theistic. (Though the show wasn't nearly as anti-theistic as people made it out to be, including 'Who Watches the Watchers')
🌌 What’s your unpopular Star Trek opinion? 🌌

Everything Section 31 outside of its DS9 episodes is horrible and undermines the entire point of Star Trek.

At its core its fancy Fascist Apologia.

It's edge lord garbage. Its like trying to shoehorn Grim-Dark into Star Trek.

Went through AI 2027 tonight as an overview. Geezy Pete’s is it horrifying. I’m not a doomsayer. Nor much of a conspiracy theorist. I do think we need to use caution when it comes to AI. We all need to stay away from XAI Gronk. It might have very little oversight.

This “plan” doesn’t help anything. It won’t keep insurance co-pays from going up. It won’t keep premiums from going up. It will knock under insured off the healthcare train totally. It’s honestly the worse thing that could happen.
You have to read between the lines here to imagine what President Trump is proposing. But, it sounds like it may be a plan for health accounts that could be used for insurance that doesn’t cover pre-existing conditions, which could create a death spiral in ACA plans that do.

I can say without a doubt that if they have enough cash here and there to pay Musk a TRILLION dollars, we are all massively under paid and paying way too much for goods and services. That’s absolutely ridiculous. #nonsense.

Ok my Star Trek nerds. Which single episode of Star Trek Deep Space Nine would have been better as a movie? #StarTrek

Trump has the power to fund SNAP with the contingency funds. The White House MUST comply with the judge's order immediately so millions of families don't go hungry.
A federal judge ordered the Trump administration to pay SNAP benefits out of a contingency fund.

About 1 in 8 Americans receive SNAP food stamps and would have been harmed by the lapse in funding.
Federal judge orders Trump administration to pay SNAP benefits out of contingency fund
The ruling came one day before funding for SNAP, more commonly known as food stamps, was set to lapse.

Let me get this straight. The Republicans are willing to starve children in order to deny healthcare for children and we’re suppose to think they are the good guys?

I think it’s important to say it’s not the number of heretics you burn but the amount of kindness you put out into the world that gets you into heaven.

I just watched “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent”. It spends 20 mins telling the audience why Nic Cage needs to go to a rich guys birthday party when they could have just opened the movie with him going to the party and not a single person would have had a single question. #filmsky

Ok folks. Finishing up my first rewatch of Star Trek Discovery. My overall thoughts haven’t changed much. It’s a better show than the haters say. But it’s not great. Disco seasons from worst to best: 3, 5, 4, 1, 2.

It’s almost like Trump’s self aggrandized ability to make peace is a load of horse crap. I wonder if he believes his own manure.

I’ve been going through Kurtzman Star Trek. Not for the first time, but paying closer attention to detail this time around. Discovery is up and I’m almost through season four.

My two least favorite things in #StarTrek:
1. Section 31. It’s antithetical to the values of the Federation. I don’t disagree that an intelligence service is needed but a secret organization lacks accountability. It really undermines utopia.
2. Mirror Universe. It’s just silly at this point.

Why aren’t state legislatures determined by using counties as districts which would determine the number of seats by population where rank choice voting determining winner of each seats. Example a county in a state has x population which states that it’s entitled to x amount of seats.

By ratting on Jesse Ventura's unionization efforts, Hulk Hogan denied all of his coworkers, and generations of performers who came after him, insurance and a retirement fund, and in that, shares in responsibility for the early deaths of several other wrestlers.
