For decades, Canadians eagerly rushed onto US tech platforms and services. But now the drawbacks of that dependence are on full display.

For @policyalternatives.ca, I explain the economic and political consequences of a US-dominated internet — and why digital sovereignty is imperative.

A reminder that the US killed 80 people in Venezuela, and it would be nice if the US media cared enough to think that the life of a grandmother in Caracas whose building is destroyed by a US bomb matters as much as the life of a person in the US.

Miller has basically said the U.S. military is going to take Greenland and no one will stop them.

That should be enough for members of NATO to employ economic sanctions against the U.S. and move to protect Denmark territory with security forces on the ground.

This is precisely the point of NATO.
TAPPER: Can you rule out the US is going to take Greenland by force?

MILLER: Greenland should be part of the US. By what right does Denmark assert control over Greenland? The US is the power of NATO

T: So force is on the table?

M: Nobody is gonna fight the US militarily over future of Greenland

For anyone trying to downplay what happened in Venezuela and say the US wouldn’t do it anywhere else, the Trump administration clearly feels it can do as it pleases — and plans to do just that.

Mexico, Colombia, and Cuba are all in the crosshairs.
New: Trump admin officials tell Zeteo that Trump is “very interested” in secret plans drawn up last year to send US Special Forces into Mexico.

One official even says Trump recently asked for updates on preparations for a possible operation.
After Trump’s Venezuela Invasion, Mexico Could Be Next
Officials tell Zeteo that Trump remains ‘very interested’ in the idea of sending US Special Forces into Mexico, as the president threatens Colombia and Cuba, too.

Some people are acting like the US kidnapping Maduro isn’t just one rung in a long ladder of political interventions in Latin America and the Caribbean—and like the consequences for Venezuela and its neighbors won’t somehow resemble the past.

But history is a better, bitter poet.

Abysmal statement from Canada on the illegal US action in Venezuela.

It doesn’t matter how much you dislike Maduro, that doesn’t justify a violation of international law and the UN Charter. You can’t call on “all parties” to respect international law and not call out US lawlessness.
Please see my statement on the situation in Venezuela:

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

BREAKING: Reps. Ro Khanna & Thomas Massie say the DOJ’s Epstein release violated federal law.

Hundreds of thousands of pages dumped without compliance. A 119-page grand jury file fully redacted. Court records missing pages. Survivors still denied disclosures. This was a violation.
