Jeffries: This is the same group of people who raced back to Washington so they could enact the largest cut to Medicaid in American history.

Phang: I call it the big bullshit bill.

Jeffries: You’re a little more direct than what we’ve been politely calling it—but you ain’t wrong. You ain’t wrong.

It's really time to hold Murdoch accountable for this. Not that any of the Murdochs are squeamish about this. But they like being accepted in polite company and this stench should stick on them.
Fox’s Jesse Watters says people who are against bombing shipwrecked people in international waters without due process or any evidence whatsoever that they have drugs or are even heading to 🇺🇸 “sound like lawyerly, whiny, effeminate weasels”

“We owe it to our young people not to lie to them anymore. A democracy whose citizens operate with fundamentally different understandings of the past and its implications cannot sustain itself.”
I spent October traveling to schools throughout the South talking to students about American history. What I found were young people who understand we can tell a story that includes both the positive and the negative. As one 8th grader in Memphis said, “Doesn’t seem that hard, just say both things.”
Tell Students the Truth About American History
We owe it to Americans of all ages to be honest about the country’s past, including its contradictions.

As U.S. citizens are increasingly being swept up in ICE arrests, fascism expert Jason Stanley says it’s “a way to normalize the targeting of everybody” and scare Black and brown Americans away from public life. #Velshi
US citizens being swept up in ICE arrests: 'We’re now a country where you have to bring your papers around'
The Supreme Court has given ICE free reign to stop and detain people based on nothing more than appearance, accent, job, or location, and this dragnet is now sweeping up U.S. citizens. University of Toronto professor and fascism expert Jason Stanley warns that "we are now a country where you have to bring your papers around." Furthermore, Stanley says that "if you instill fear in Black and brown citizens that they will have this interaction with ICE, they're much less likely to show up" to vote or participate in civic life.

Justice KBJ is a brilliant strategist. She is working the rules to compel timely review of the stay in the SNAP case by both the Circuit Court and by the Supreme Court. This is why knowing which SCOTUS justice has supervision of the Circuit you file in is essential.

Lying Mike Johnson claims the last government shutdown was in 2013. The last TWO federal shutdowns were during Trump’s last term. Trump has been responsible for close to 2/3 of all federal shutdown days in US history.
Mike Johnson: "We congratulate them on an apparently violent-free speech exercise ... but if President Trump was a king, the government would be open right now ... by the way, the Mall was open because President Trump hasn't closed it."

at this point you have to acknowledge that there is no way that these guys don't try to mess with the 2026 midterms. there is absolutely no respect for the legitimacy of the opposition
Stephen Miller: "Eventually elections don’t carry the day because violence beats votes… When we see a muscular response from the federal government, it’s because we’re not going to let violence beat votes."

Is he implying federal intervention determines political legitimacy, not ballots or courts?

The fact that a vast majority of Americans agree on a wide array of issues and yet our political leaders advance none of them illustrates just how broken our system is.
