a good example of how the world is getting dumber. the new politico playbook writer didn't know who FDR was until a reader told him about that whole "new deal" thing. this newsletter is read by every important person in DC.

I personally wasn’t a heavy TikTok user but the videos were hilarious and there was a PLETHORA of information on there if you knew how to search. I think it’s disingenuous to say that people shouldn’t be upset about not being able to access that anymore.

Just a reminder of some of the context around the TikTok ban: In 2020, Trump tried to ban it via executive order a couple months after K-pop fans used it to organize fake signups to Trump’s Tulsa rally, which led him to publicly overestimate how large the crowd size would be.

Monday January 20th isn’t just a day to celebrate the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, it’s also a day to mourn the death of U.S. democracy with the coronation of a felon as the country’s first dictator.

RIP TikTok. The ultimate example of the olds not getting it.

It is especially ironic that we're freaking out about a foreign owned social network when we're letting untrustworthy figures straight through the door over here

The ironic part of the TikTok ban is that the United States has shown they are now not against the same media tactics as China.

This is exactly what the internet was like while I was there expect so many other sites like Google, YouTube, and others banned too.

VPNs made my stay there bearable.

Reminder that politicians admitted wanting to ban TikTok because people could see for themselves what Israel is doing in Gaza.
They really banned TikTok before they banned sending weapons to Israel during a genocide.
