The Germanic for ‘fox’ (Eng fox, HGer Fuchs, WFrs foks, ÖöFrs foos, Dutch vos, &c.) isn’t related to Indo-Iranic *ħrau̯paHc̑á- (Skt lōpāśá-, Kshm loh, Yidgha ruso, Oss ruvas, Prs rōbah, &c.).
But I just “discovered” now in Mainland North Frisian:
- Karrharder reew
- Wiedingharder reerf

The Dutch words ‘zolder’ (“attic”) and ‘solarium’ (“tanning salon”) are doublets: they both stem from Latin ‘sōlārium’ (“roof terrace”).
Dutch ‘solarium’ is a late borrowing, while ‘zolder’ was borrowed into the Germanic ancestor of Dutch.

Oh hell YES.
I've long maintained that based on the result of ink recipes, the word "azraq" couldn't mean "blue" in early Arabic texts but seems instead to be yellowish. Now I have textual proof: "Take red arsenic [realgar] or if you wish, azraq"—no such thing as blue arsenic, this means yellow!

The only problem for my experience here (giving calm library vibes): not enough of fellow M'sians, Indonesians & S'poreans recommended to me, unless I know their Twitter handles...
literally every instance I've seen of twitter users complaining/warning others about bluesky is like "guys don't go on bluesky. they have [thing that you absolutely, 100% experience on twitter]"

Romanian ‘femeie’ (woman) and ‘familie’ (family) are doublets: they both stem from Latin ‘familiam’.
