This is just f'ing awesome: tiny little solar power plants are sprouting on German balconies. A *million* of them now!

This needs to be legalized in the US, ASAP. I want my own balkonkraftwerk.

The number of "balcony power plants" in Germany has doubled over the past year to almost 1 million, according to the German Solar Association (BSW). "We are working on the assumption that the milliont...

Some stats from 100 days in on congestion pricing:
- Complaints about car-honking are down 70%
- The Holland Tunnel has 65% fewer delays at rush hour; time to get thru it is down 48%
- 6 million fewer cars
- Half as many traffic-related injuries
- 1.5 million more visitors to BIDs year over year
How Well Is Congestion Pricing Doing? Very.
One hundred days in, honking is down; bus speeds are up.

Republicans and Elon Musk decisively lost their bid to buy the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

But three days later, the GOP came closer than ever to overturning the election of a Democratic justice to the North Carolina Supreme Court. @ariberman.bsky.social reports:

For comparison:

* All of NASA's budget, combined, is under $25B

* USAID's HIV prevention & treatment program (PEPFAR), which provided life-saving drugs for 20 million people, had a budget of $4,2B

* Only 11 countries spend more on their *entire militaries* than that.

$45B is a staggering sum.
this is a staggering amount of money to build camps—suggesting that building & running a gulag will be the primary function of the otherwise gutted Trump-state

in last fiscal yr: "D.H.S. allocated about $3.4 billion for the entire custody operation overseen by ICE"

Da aber die Binnenschifffahrt in Deutschland von der Mineralöl- und CO2-Steuer befreit wäre (Strom aber mit Steuern und Abgaben belastet wird) wäre der Betrieb im Jahr 520.000€ teurer. Tja.

The simple fact is though that it's going to take a long time - much longer than we feel comfortable with - to disentangle our military capabilities from the US.

At the same time, it's a mutual entanglement, so I expect the process to play out relatively peaceably unless the WH forces it not to be.
I mean... holy shit.
