Tissue 'tectonic' collision is detrimental, but flies found two distinct solutions! Gratifying and grateful to be included in this collective effort, w/ Steffen Lemke, to crack the (or 'a') code of #cephalicfurrow, now out in @nature.com, all with @paveltomancak.bsky.social at the helm. (1/9)

I have written another #preLight post, featuring the first work from the Boukhatmi lab. Always fun to read a #fly paper, especially with #microscopy too! Check it out if you like injury repair and tissue/ECM remodeling.

*sigh* I was today years old when I learnt that Schrödinger sexually abused young girls he was tutoring

The history of science (as told in classrooms & lecture halls) ought to be a hell of a lot more diverse and critical

Paracantha fruit fly, just cranking the style slider to 100 and seeing what happens.

I love it, is what happens. 💛
Strange stripy orange fly with striped and spotted wings, and banded technicolor compound eyes. Long setae all over Close shot of the creature's wild eyes, stripy yellow and maroon and hints of light blue and green. Top view; wings are folded, they have a transparent outer edge with dark veins like zebra stripes, and orange with like blue-ringed octopus spots on the inner surface. Face of the creature, both compound eyes visible.
