This certainly casts Coles's new partnership with Palantir on surveillance of shopping habits in a disturbing and accurate light. Oh you bought pears 200km from home last July? Can and will be used against you.
ICE is using a Palantir tool that uses Medicaid and other government data to stalk people for arrest, 404 Media reports. This is exactly the kind of data privacy abuse that EFF has been warning about.

If the political will exists to crush (checks notes) scooters, how can there be even the most minute hesitation to crush guns in bulk?

Who'd have thought Vanilla Ice would turn out to be a prophet? The title of his seminal, semi-eponymous breakout hit is relevant in 2026 in a way that it never was before.

The ABC's gaslightling 'fact-check' article still uncritically supports ICE's claims about the extrajudicial murder in Minnesota, but hey, they changed the headline, so it's all good.

Any congruent act of public contrition is a good thing in my books. It's pretty weird that it's coming from a generational talent in national divisiveness, but still, nice to see.

People have always wanted to hear something they could believe, whether it was true or not. And that's no crime. Knowledge is challenging, and there are too many domains. But anglophone societies are now manically defunding the people who do the checking. It's a recipe for wrong.

Sick to the back teeth of all this bullshit about productivity policy. Pay workers enough that they can live happily and go on holidays every so often. Problem fucking solved.

CEO pay is up 1,085% since 1978, while typical worker pay is up just 24%.

Why do we always hear "we can't afford to pay our workers more" but never "we can't afford to pay our CEO more"?
