Continuing to wonder if Mafia 3 is going to be the closest we'll ever get to a AAA game from an unapologetically black perspective.

SCOOP: Last year, Ubisoft cancelled an Assassin's Creed game set during Reconstruction. Was to feature a Black Assassin who, among other things, fought the rise of the Klan

Sources: Leadership nixed it over concerns re: U.S. political climate, backlash to Yasuke

Saw this proposed “bell tower” at an Isamu Noguchi exhibit that he wanted to erect in Hiroshima as a memorial. Bells brought in from all over the world, hung off a seventy foot wooden structure. Might be from playing too much Silksong, but I’m reminded of Silksong!

This feels new. Normally network heads have to hide their ugly political views. Weiss is getting hired *because* of hers. Feels like an abandonment of the old faux objectivity of major news sites. The fringe has overtaken our institutions.

Bari Weiss is set to be named the editor in chief of CBS News, the New York Post reports
Paramount Skydance is poised to name Bari Weiss as editor in chief of CBS News in the coming days — giving the hard-charging journalist unusual clout to revamp the struggling network as it also acquires her scrappy news site the Free Press, The Post has learned.

Weiss — a 41-year-old former New York Times opinion writer who has built the Free Press into a buzzworthy site with a contrarian bent — is expected to be named to the top post in a Monday announcement, although the talks are in flux and the timing could change, a source close to the situation said.

The past few hours have only reinforced this point, unfortunately. They really are petty, spiteful, childish ideologues who hate their users. And that makes them utterly incompetent in their charge as stewards of anything, let alone a social network in a time of cultural tension and upheaval.
errant-signal.com
Increasingly convinced every person of power on this platform is a tremendously disingenuous git actively contemptuous of the fact that the ended up reigning over "lefty twitter" and not their jerkoff technobro decentralized utopia they had convinced themselves they were building.

There's the substance of the signal issue, and then there's the pattern of behavior that jay was responding to -- the constant, _constant_ off topic responses that make this tedious.

On the substance, it's really just that the guy didn't violate the ToS. I'm sorry, that's just it

tried to dig into OTGW in this messy essay last year. it grasps beneath the contemporary signs for good and bad with a long history of American folklore, drawing on images of colonization, plantation, suburbanization, at a moment when all the rhetorical shorthands for evil have been discarded.

Horrifying— Barbara Gomes Marques went with her US citizen husband and lawyer on 9/16 to a green card appointment at USCIS office in downtown LA where she was tricked into walking down a hallway away from them, was snatched by ICE and never came back. She now faces imminent deportation in Louisiana.

You don’t have to read between the lines. Trump is literally saying, publicly and out loud, that he is at war — actual, military-involved war — with Americans and American cities he personally dislikes. That impeachment is politically off the table is a national scandal.

Trump: You know, our inner cities, which we'll be talking about because it's a big part of war now, a big part of war.
