I never said they were completely devoid of racism. No community is devoid of racism, even in only black communities you see examples of colorism, I'm just saying that diversity is better than homogeny and we have data that supports that idea.

I hear and see your concerns. Over the weekend, a couple users hosted on Blacksky's PDS were banned from the Bluesky app and thus the Bluesky API servers. This was a weakness of our system I've been aware of and hoped we had more time to address before any kind of public incident. 1/11

People have an actual limit with the number of times in one week that the company's comms strategy can come off like "actually we are untrustworthy fucks who have no problem being racist to Black people and transphobic to trans people and wildly dishonest with artists who trust us with images"

Companies need to be very clear and very exact with their wording as they describe what they do and do not do with the images and words people upload to sites. It's a fraught conversation. There is very little trust on the user end because users have been burned many times.

People once again need to internalize that "generative AI" is a small subset of machine learning, that machine learning is a critical tool that you cannot run a site without past a certain volume Bluesky has long since exceeded, and that it is FAR more reliable than user reporting.
