If you brag that you fired 5 rounds, create 7 holes, and the person survives.

Then you're a terrible shot.

And a douchebag.

So my congressman Kevin Kiley (R) just had his CA-3rd district redrawn blue. Adios re-election plans!

He can now do the funniest thing: sign on to release the Epstein files, and go down in history for breaking both the shutdown- and the fascist aspirations of Trump.

It bears repeating: the opioid epidemic, which has claimed hundreds of thousands of American lives, was sparked by the activities of U.S.-based pharmaceutical companies and distributors. It was a homegrown, man-made plague.

Happy Halloween!

I just sent this to Director Bhattacharya.

We asked Ed — how do we talk up the benefits of science in the face of government cuts? He told us that's the wrong approach. 🧪

2025-09-08: Scouting America has dropped it's DEI training and old links to the training receive a 404 page not found error.

I'm not surprised. But man, what crappy leadership.
As of 2025-01-31 the optional "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Scouting Volunteer Training" is still available from Scouting America. As a Scout leader and proud parent of a girl in scouts, I took the training as soon as it was available. Wondering how long it will last...

Trees are literally solar powered, converting sunlight into wood. This group wants to culture tree cells in reactors- which would require feeding the culture sugars processed from another plant. Am I missing something here? There's no way the economics work. Thoughts @synbio1.bsky.social ? #woodgang

On this date in 2008 RATM was scheduled to perform at a protest festival against the RNC in Minneapolis. As we approached the stage the cops blocked us, pulled the plug and threatened arrest.

“This is my rake. There are many like it, but this one is mine.”
As everyone knows, “True warfighters instilled with the warfighting ethos, however, know that a warfighting ethos is only at its warfighting ethos-iest when warfighters are fighting a war on boredom. And here among the embattled mulch beds of D.C., cousin, boredom is ah-boomin.”
This is absolutely amazing. From the Air Force Times, too. Read w tongue in cheek.

Which big pharma will be first to cut a deal? Would 10% equity convert to faster and guaranteed FDA approvals? Less rigorous clinical trials? Less scrutiny of adverse events? No black box warnings?
Perfectly normal and OK. Right?

Hey Albert Bourla and all the other biopharma CEOs who have been trying to butter these people up: how goes it? You liking what you see, from Trump and from RFK, Jr.?
Trump: We’re going to be doing numbers on the cost of drugs in this country. I'm not talking about a 20% decrease, I'm talking about a 1000% decrease.

My quote of the day

Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of those who should have known better; the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most; that has made it possible for evil to triumph.
