The 2025 U.N. climate conference, COP30, will run from Nov. 10-21 in Belém, Brazil, and is expected to host the largest participation of Indigenous peoples in the conference series’ history, with more than 3,000 Indigenous delegates registered.

I agree to some extent, although I do think that formally granting China permanent MFN, and the subsequent WTO accession, probably encouraged more US companies to set up shop in China. But of course it's impossible to know how the counterfactual would have played out.

As I like to point out, it would be interesting to see how things would have turned out if the US focus in the early 2000s had been pressing China on issues such as market-orientation, human rights, and democracy, instead of, say, all the War on Terror stuff.
