What are you growing in 2026?
I am growing Chinese water chestnuts.
My son bought 2 big packages of water chestnuts thinking they were regular chestnuts for Thanksgiving. I cooked some and these sprouted in the fridge so I am just planting them in water.

#wildflowerhour #AquaticPlants this water figwort has colonised my greenhouse! No idea where it's come from as there are no ponds near me. I leave the door ajar so bees and pollinators can enjoy. @wildflowerhour.bsky.social @bsbibotany.bsky.social

The #AquaticPlants challenge lets me continue my obsession with the tiny flowers of River Water-crowfoot (Ranunculus fluitans), currently flowering in the chalk stream running through my Dorset village. #WildflowerHour @wildflowerhour.bsky.social

...ideal breeding grounds for non-native #mosquitoes, some of which can carry diseases like #WestNilevirus 🦟⚠️

Managing invasive #aquaticplants helps protect #waterquality and #communityhealth. Prevention matters!

Many invasions of #aquaticplants start out innocently enough…but can quickly escalate to require a significant amount of management resources and economic support.

The abundant Yellow Water-lilies, as well as having some subaqua flowers that haven't quite made it to the surface, have some nurseries of babies on the silty riverbed.
Good to see the stonking flower of the River Water-Dropwort emerging from its feathery leaves beneath. #aquaticplants 21/24

For this week’s #WildFlowerHour dedicated to #AquaticPlants, here’s what I believe is a water forget-me-not (Myosotis scorpioides) peeking up through the greenery along the local canal bank.
So tiny and delicate, my untrained eyes almost missed it.

Dominant macrophyte in River Little Ouse below Lakenheath Fen, besides Arrowhead, is the Yellow Water-lily now in full bloom. Also a few Frogbit (Hydrocharis morsus-ranae). Common fern-like #aquaticplants in this reach are Lesser Water-Parsnip and River Water-Dropwort. #wildflowerhour #flower 13/23

This Wretton reach of Cut-Off Channel had quite a lot River Water-Dropwort (Oenanthe fluviatilis), a few Fan-leaved Water-crowfoot (Ranunculus circinatus), lots #invasivespecies Nuttall's Waterweed (Elodea nuttallii) & I wonder if these are leaves of Arrowhead unfurling? #flower #aquaticplants 8/15

If you live on a lake or river, please spray or hand-pull this plant and landfill. Be gentle to avoid dislodging any of their turions. Here is what the leaf look like compared to a loonie and an US quarter. #FrogBit #aquaticplants #InvasiveSpecies #lakelife #conservation #ais
