Rage-baited so hard by all the misogynistic men at the start that I almost dropped this, but the ending is so so satisfying 😈🔥🔪

Review of Slewfoot: My book bestie recommended this to me and assured me the payoff will be so worth the initial struggle, and thankfully the ending really delivered! The witchy vibes are perfect, and the pacing is tight; there's never a dull moment in the book. The author's gorgeous illustrations of traditional folk creatures are so captivating and atmospheric too! I love following Tabitha and Samson and their continual loss of faith in the good of humanity, and all the men served as satisfying punching bags at the end. That said, the beginning really is a slog, with all the sexist, patriarchal Puritan bullshit of colonial New England. Rage inducing, even, but Tabitha gets her due by the end. (smiley face)

It's been a good book year! Only one 5 ⭐ read because I am terrible at rating things and gave up after 10 books.

Resolving next year to read more non fiction because I only got three in and that's a travesty!

Looking out our front door to our arbor, things are kind of quiet it’s foggy of course Mom went out. She went ahead and did a walk with our brothers while we stayed inside with our dad. Just finished The Midnight Feast by Lucy Foley and reached my goal of 50 books read in 2025 (just barely 😅). I loved the dark, sinister, small town vibes of this mystery and the perspective/time shifts in each chapter. I'm looking forward to reading more of her work in 2026!
