He’s even wrong about this. Back in the 60’s and 70’s it was common practice to soak your new 501’s while wearing them to get them to hug you and create a more tailored look, personalized fit. But I guess if you were coked out of your head in the 80’s this might seem the right way to clean them.

Well, IMHO the old rules weren't working so great either. I was a helicopter pilot from the mid-80's to early 2000's. I've got hearing loss (w/10 yrs testing at audiologists to validate), plus 24/7 tinnitus. Been denied the 10 or 20% disability by VA twice. And no medicine fixes those.
