After I saw this episode I started an anti-apartheid letter writing campaign. I grew up in the least diverse place in America and it took a sitcom to educate me because my own school didn't talk about it.

In the 1980s, collaboration between employees, customers, and investors succeeded in convincing HP and IBM to stop collaborating with the apartheid South African government. This played a secondary but very real role in the overall fall of the government. (And is the why the Musks left for America.)
