Rewatch: DELIVERANCE (1972), an unsettling film of four city men on a horrific canoeing trip in rural Georgia.

It explores survival amidst brutal yet beautiful terrain while tapping into Appalachian stereotypes, especially for a rape scene that still shocks.

Street Art - Osaka Japan

Ever heard of skyscraper canoeing? This yellow canoe seems to be causing a ripple in this building as it works its way from bottom to top. If anyone is going to Osaka soonish 🤔they should try to get a photo of this incredible street art! 🛶🛶🛶

The salties will definitely add a new and exciting element to the rowing and canoeing events and (as a kayaker) I'm here for it.

Ah, right. That explains the dream about canoeing through river rapids in an endless forest, buried under a mountain of muskrat pelts while a little man in a large hat on a white horse scowls at me with the Civ V French war music playing in the background...
No, YOU fell down a 5hr rabbit hole of genealogy with main missions in 19th-century German Geopolitics, The Forty-Eighters, and the Grand Rapids and Indiana Railroad (plus side missions in Rail Trails, Lansing Origin Stories, and the Turner Movement)

when I was a kid I went to a summer camp that was pretty idyllic, archery, canoeing, meals in the mess hall, the whole deal. the campnhad a wealthy benefactor who was pretty chill but he was really into ventriloquy and every week or two we all had to watch politely while he came to do his act

If you like adventure stories or canoeing and kayaking, you should pick up a copy of Pushing the River by Frank Bures. I enjoyed it, and here's my brief review.
Pushing the River Book Review
Recently, I read Pushing the River by Frank Bures and enjoyed it thoroughly. The book documents the history of marathon racing on the Mississippi River, other stories from the region, some of the author's personal adventures and his brush with death on cold water. Overall, it was an entertaining read and well worth picking up for your winter reading. I find book reviews somewhat tedious, but I did want to recommend this book to PaddlingLight's readers, so I'll be brief with this review. The History of the Paul Buyan Canoe Derby…

My Cub Scout troop used to organize a two-week trip to a site two weeks away for like 50 boys. Tents, kitchen, food, swimming/canoeing area, everything but the bathroom. I think these guys have really never done a group project.

There's so much horse riding and running and canoeing in Lord of the Rings. There's really no reason they couldn't have a BMX section with the hobbits doing a ton of double barspins and tail whips and 360s. Cut all that orc shit out and let Gimli do tire taps and wheelies at the grave of Balin.

I need to find the article on SEAL war crimes and general lunacy in Iraq and Afghanistan (such as the obsession with canoeing downed enemies or the debacle of the hatchets) where an anonymous retired SEAL says ”These fucking morons read The Devil’s Guard, and they believed it.”
I’m tired of best strategy military and war books lists.

Where is your worst books that claim to be historical or military theory?

I’ll start:

My ideal celebration is doing something nice for myself like going out and buying some tea or doing some kind of activity. I particularly enjoyed canoeing one year with my sister. I don't like big parties their overwhelming but something that can be spent in quiet comtemplation is nice!

Got sand in my eye while canoeing. After 2 hours on the river in excruciating pain I was squatting outside a Piggly Wiggly in rural WI, trying to flush it out with some saline & screaming, when a woman appeared out of nowhere saying, "Are you OK honey? I'm a nurse." She took us to urgent care. 1/2

I might have to a canoeing trip Minnesota just to hear the stories. Last time I was there I had go across the border to a wedding in Chippewa Falls where, naturally, the drunk cousins launched a few hundred aerial fireworks.

All Midwestern summers slap.
