MÖRKTOBER day 12: Binding Randlef's Peak What sort of tribute is a goat to one the size of a giant? A snack. A morsel. An apéritif. And yet in days gone, this is what they offered, to keep the great slow ones from crushing all they had built and gnawing on their bones. The giants may be gone but the peak remains, as do the old rituals. How to measure the solstices and the equinoxes when there is no sun in the sky and time itself has grown slippery? None but Randlef knows, and she keeps her methods secret. If the sacrifices are not offered, the Miseries will come. Randlef, the Vessel Time flies through her veins. It has nowhere else to go. It churns in her guts, spills from her mouth when she speaks. She grows from young to old to young again over hours. She offers her sacrifices to bleed off excess time, drowning in moments that pile up inside her, keeping the giants buried deeply in the past where they belong. HP 12 Unarmoured Morale – Attack DR10. No damage, Temporal Bleed. Temporal Bleed: Test Presence DR12 or age d6 years (−1 to a random Ability). She heals d4 HP each time this occurs. The trees that ring the clearing are dead and dying but still stand, their bark twisted into leering faces, the only thing that remains of the cultists who once worked their rites here. In the creak of the branches you can still hear their death cries, their sad laments barely a whisper on the wind. Those who spend the night in the clearing are tormented by violent visions of pulsing red, rending flesh, twisting gristle, hot muscle tearing and pulling apart at the seams. On waking, Test Presence DR 12. Failure: Lose d2 from a random Attribute, permanently. Success: Learn one of the following Powers. You can cast it once per day. FLESHWARP Your bones crack and reform. Roll d6: 1-2: Gain an extra arm (make an additional attack each round, DR 14); 3-4: Legs fuse into a serpent tail (Defense DR10 but you can't walk); 5-6: Face splits open revealing fanged maw (d6 bite attack). Lasts d4 hours. Test Presence DR12 or permanent. SKINLESS COMMUNION Peel away your flesh to become one with the world. Take d6 damage. For the next hour, you can flow through cracks, sense vibrations through walls, and are immune to blades and bludgeons. Test Toughness DR14 afterward or gain permanent -1 HP. MEAT PUPPET Touch a corpse. Your consciousness transfers into it while your body collapses. Control the corpse for d6 hours. The corpse rots visibly (lose 1 point from random ability each hour). When the effect ends, Test Presence DR12 or your soul takes d4 hours to find its way back to your body. BONEGARDEN Your skeleton sprouts through your skin like thorns. Take d6 damage. Anyone who touches or strikes you in melee takes d4 damage. Lasts d6 rounds. Test Toughness DR10 after. On failure, your bones don't fully retract (permanent -1 Presence, +1 to all Defense DRs).

MÖRKTOBER Day 3: Daggers Darldreg, Champion Darldreg, champion of Maw’s fighting cages. She has won her last twelve bouts against the things from within the maw, and she grows rich from her exploits. Her money is spent on drink, and women, and in searching for a cure for the hard white growths that have begun to sprout from her joints. Darldreg HP 9 No Armor (Attacks are DR10: the growths have begun to slow her) 2 attacks each round: Flail d6 and Bite d3 + Infection The artwork shows a fighter in mixed armor and leather-wrapped arms. On her head is a coif and a skull mask. Her teeth are sharpened. There are daggers; one in her hand and plenty tattooed on her skin.

Cataclysmic Eruption! The volcano’s heart explodes. Lava geysers obliterate everything. No tests. Total party kill. A deafening explosion collapses the room. The PC with the lowest Toughness tests Agility DR16 to evade the worst of it, otherwise dies instantly. Spewing Magma A xiuhkoatl pyre snake (p. 29) erupts from a fissure, fixating on any PCs carrying blood-obsidian. Magma floods the corridor. Agility DR14 to outrun the flow. Fail: Legs scalded (-d6 HP, -1 Agility until healed). Pyroclastic Surge Stones within the cloud coalesce into a stone effigy of Metzteotl, its hollow eyes weeping molten tears. Collect them (d4 vials, each acts as Xokol-Atl) but test Toughness DR14 to avoid searing your hands (-d4 HP per vial). The tears crystallize at dawn, becoming worthless. The surge unearths a cursed ol-tek core humming with Naktokatl’s voice. Touch it (Presence DR16) to commune with the Great Spider (ask one question about the dungeon’s secrets) or trigger an Arcane Catastrophe. Crumbling Caldera The floor collapses, merging this room with a randomly rolled non-adjacent one, a jagged lava bridge now connecting them. Crossing requires Agility DR12; failure drops you into a slag river (2d8 damage, Strength DR14 to climb out). The collapse awakens a living vein of Naktokatl’s flesh, fused to the cursed forge. It offers a pact: Feed it blood (sacrifice d6 HP permanently) to stabilize the room, revealing a hidden vault with a ritual scroll (roll on p. 12–13). Refuse, and the vein lashes out, summoning d4 spiderling ol-tek drones (Level -1, HP 3, No armor, Acidic Bite d2 + goes down a tier). Lava Meteor Bombing The meteors shatter, revealing d6 xiuhkoatl eggs veined with molten turquoise. Crack one open (Agility DR12 to avoid searing fumes, -d4 HP) to Harvest d4 crystallizing venom glands (worth 24s or +d6 damage as a one-time poison). Or leave them intact, in 2d8 days, they hatch into xiuhkoatl ember vipers (p. 29). Toxic Fumaroles Fumes distill into Metzteotl’s Breath—a sentient gas whispering moon-madness. Inhale the mist and test Presence DR14 to reveal secrets for d2 rooms. Failure causes hallucinations of allies transforming into monsters. The air reeks of burnt offerings. A ghostly procession of Olhimekah engineers materializes, trudging toward the Flesh Engine. Follow silently (Agility DR10) to bypass hazards, failure dissipates their shades. Earthquake Swarm A collapsing wall crushes a hidden vault open, revealing 3d6 seeds of Xokol and a pristine weapon (roll on Weapon Table). A fissure splits the earth. Agility or Strength DR8 to jump across. Failure leaves you dangling over magma (d4 damage until the test is successful). Boiling Geysers Water pours from the ceiling, flooding the room waist-high. Agility DR10 to avoid being swept into the previous room. A geyser blocks the path. Wait d4 rounds or risk Toughness DR10 to sprint through (d6 damage). Ashfall Darkness All light sources dim to 5ft. Tests for powers and ranged attacks are done with disadvantage. Choking ash fills lungs. Presence DR6 each room or cough uncontrollably (+1 to all tests DR). Sulfur Storms The air reeks of rot. Toughness DR8 or retch, losing one action next round. Yellow dust coats everything. PCs with open wounds are now infected. Trembling Precursors A faint rumble vibrates underfoot. Distant crashes echo—no immediate danger. A horrid high-pitched hum reverberates through the room. Strength DR14 or drop whatever you’re holding and cover your ears (1 round). Subterranean Whispers Unseen voices mock your actions. All crits/fumbles are DOUBLED here (damage, effects) until you leave the room. The earth sighs. Birds flee. The PC with the highest presence gains Advantage on the next test to detect hazards.
