Goldy was a fine platoon bat against LHP as long as you look at the season line and never, ever look at anything else about his 2025.

Ben Rice is 26 years old and has had less than 200 PAs against LHP in the majors! I don't know how to find splits data for MiLB at all but like, that is not enough of a sample to say he can't hit lefties even if he *didn't* do it well to this point!

Paul Goldschmidt had an 87 wRC+ against LHP from June through the end of 2025. He has not gotten younger since that point.
Ben Rice? He had a 98 wRC+ against LHP in that same time frame! He is never going to learn to hit lefties (if you even buy that he can't, categorically) if they platoon him!

1B Paul Goldschmidt returns to the New York Yankees on another 1-year major league contract. Goldschmidt had strong numbers against left-handed pitchers last season and figures to platoon alongside Ben Rice at first base.
