I love the P'tit Train du Nord cycle/X-country ski path into Quebec's Laurentians—done it many times with my kids. But I'd gladly trade it for the rail corridor that it replaced; it used to run from my Montreal neighborhood all the way to Mont-Laurier.

Yeah, it depends on what area you live in. East Quebec is VERY different from Montreal/the Townships/Laurentians and points west. It's more pro-CONservative/anti-anglo/indépendatiste.

You can also get to 10 ski hills in the Laurentians (and five cross country routes) using l'Inter. 7x per day each way on weekends, 10x on weekdays, and they have a place on the bus to securely store your skis. Just $6 each way, plus ABC Exo to St Jerome. www.transportlaurentides.ca/wp-content/u...

Anything that can't go on forever, won't.

I fear we're rapidly approaching the won't point, as Laurentians refuse to even take western concerns seriously even for tactical purposes.

I went in the opposite direction. From the city to the Laurentians when I retired.

Rural Property Ownership: Hidden Costs
The "Hidden" Costs of Your Canadian Getaway: The Reality of Part-Time Rural Property Ownership There’s a classic Canadian dream: escaping the city on Friday afternoon, windows down, heading toward a quiet cabin in the Muskokas, the Laurentians, or the BC interior. But for many, the reality of owning a "part-time" rural property is less about lounging on the dock and more about a never-ending to-do list that follows you from the city.

Like, my FIL sent me an AI vid he's been getting for months on Instagram that claims we have $17 trillion dollars in the ground and that the mean Laurentians don't want us to dig it up because they hate us.

Just imagine that swirling for months in every Gen Xer's 6hr/day screen-time. Not great!

Last Saturday morning, I practiced my cross-country skiing in Morin Heights in the Laurentians. I met the same man’s gaze a few times, either on the ski trails or at the reception chalet. So we started to chat a little every time our paths crossed. Then he informs me that he owns a rustic cottage.
