I watched Gundam Unicorn. It had some really good looking suits and some clean action sequences and I really liked how it represents both Neo Zeon and the federation. But at the same time, the McGuffin it built up was very grounded in a series with a focus on space wizards. It felt off to me

Also, the plot just...doesn't really go anywhere? There's the mcguffin you're trying to get back and every guy involved with it just goes "I have no idea about it, sorry, I'm dead now, bye!" and all the Assassin stuff is dumped out right near the end of the plot. It's really poorly thought out.

S1 felt so much more focused because everyone's actions were revolving around the same McGuffin, so one character's choices could impact another, and so on. So far, things like the Legion and the Brotherhood Civil War don't seem to be related to anything wider than that.

Dick Shawn will always be Lorenzo St. DuBois to me. The film has an excellent McGuffin (set up by Jimmy Durante) and starts well, but two-thirds of it offers little more than shouting and gurning. Charmless, for the most part. But I persevered and, like you, admire Barrie Chase's cool dancing.
