Meanwhile my own Amazon impulse purchase is a radio core and carrier board to play around with Meshtastic/MeshCore.
I know there are discord groups forming for cities trying to orchestrate that. I should look at those more to see how they are. Been meaning to checkout MeshCore as well to see if its viable.

It has arrived! Can’t wait to get the MeshCore firmware on it and see what it can do!
Is this the thing I should get? I know the sorta default setup is something that just connects to a phone via bluetooth but I have a strong preference for a dedicated device.

Ben zelf wel al geruime tijd een Briar gebruiker wat helaas nooit op iOS zal gaan werken door de restricties van het OS. Meshcore/tastic is momenteel niet interessant voor mij vanwege geen budget voor hardware

Het is een alternatief voor Meshtastic. Wat ik jammer vind, want MeshCore is minder open (bepaalde features zitten in betaalde build; minder ontwikkelaars). Maar een groot deel van de Utrechtse Meshtastic-gebruikers is over naar Meshcore. Het schijnt stabieler te zijn bij grote, vaste netwerken

Heb een paar youtube filmpjes gekeken met een handleiding. Met behulp van meshcore kun je tekstberichten sturen als noodvoorziening als de telefoon het niet doet.

Ik ben me een beetje aan het oriënteren op meshcore. Het is een netwerk dat werkt zonder dat je gsm-masten nodig hebt. Ik ga vandaag wat nieuw speelgoed bestellen om ermee te experimenteren.

meshtastic is much simpler, and good for local/mobile meshes
meshcore has more of a focus on routing messages and static infrastructure, and your messages can travel a lot further without spamming the network

Having great success with Meshcore, as of yesterday, looks like that is the technology to pursue for mesh communications. (Meshtastic, not so good).

Also, the Montréal area seem nicely covered! Apparently more popular than in Ottawa according to MeshMap.net?
There’s even some big connections between the island and the shores which is pretty interesting ngl!

Es gibt noch die Möglichkeit der Textkommunikation, ähnlich SMS über den LoRa Standard mit Meshtastic oder MeshCore.
Damit kann auch über lange Distanzen kommuniziert werden, ich konnte schon mehr als 90km überbrücken. Ist noch im Aufbau. MeshCore ist zu bevorzugen
