This knob confuses me every time I touch it

Aan het knutselen geslagen.

De analoge multimeter op de foto rechts kreeg ik voor m'n 11e verjaardag. Toen ik 10 werd kreeg ik een soldeerbout maar die is helaas een aantal jaren geleden gesneuveld.

finally using my multimeter for good to look thru the ps2 slim's fuses i got.

The ones missing are the ones I can't seem to find on the board, but the rest have been tested using the circuit beeper

so i fixed this transistor/capacitor tester. this thing got sparked.

what helped me is the more sensitive multimeter, hunting down a short by its decimal differences, 5V line was shorted to ground by this protection diode array at D2. and now it works without it! feels good to apply knowledge, huh?

Today at #supercon - while the multimeter and bendy and scope SAOs were the most impressive last year, this hedgehog that @mitten made was my favorite. And now I have one!

(I've been thinking a bit about SAOs / badges. Something like a pocket operator would be a […]

Parent Corner:

Kid#1 is at college about 2 hours away. His car wouldn't start. He could get a jump or use AAA but that would not solve the question, is there a parasitic battery drain?

I loaded up my tools and made the trip on my day off and found the culprit.

We went to a smaller festival this month and thought it was such a shame the #SkyhorseCarousel is too hard to bring to small events, so we bought a coin operated horse for next time 😂 It has fabulous hair! We’ll repaint it when we get started on the carousel scenery panels next month.

do you need to be an electrician to use a multimeter? strictly speaking, no, but it would probably be more useful if you knew what the fuck you’re looking at

the plus side in all of this is that I have significantly increased my ability to use my multimeter to diagnose electrical problems

Recovery mode?

Or do we need a multimeter to test some connections?

Arduino kit? there’s some in the one I’m using where I can only tell the red/brown stripes apart by actually measuring them with a multimeter

Pulled out the questionable cap.

It really looks suspicious of you ask me.

Also can’t get a reading with either my multimeter or the ESR meter. Not sure if the 200V rating is too high for my meters? The cap also doesn’t measure shorted🤔

Got a non-working Sega Genesis model 1 today and I'm wondering if the problem is simply this little bit to the right of 1989 on the power pcb is missing solder? I'm not experienced with electronics repair, but poking around with the multimeter, showed no power getting to the main motherboard.

that's not a multimeter man that shit's a singlemeter sob

the new house came with a camera and NVR setup in which most of the cameras were working but three had no signal. I finally got around to probing with the multimeter and it seems that while the cameras are all 12V devices the ones that aren't working are getting 5V, 5V and 0V respectively.

I can't find my multimeter, despite invoking the ancient magics to locate it, by which I mean wandering around the house muttering "Multimeter, multimeter, multimeter..."

Do you have a multimeter? Check the voltage across the battery terminals when it's running and if it says 14V your alternator is charging it fine.
If the battery gets killed from the car sitting, sounds like parasitic drain. Can also check for that with a multimeter. (Amp draw when off)

Maybe they could help you with electronic projects being a protogen (I think that's the right word?) and all! Probing contacts with their fingers and acting like a tiny sentient oscilloscope and multimeter!

And of course there's allll sorts of ways to reward them for their help!

Dear straight people, I need plumbing help.

My tankless hot water heater has stopped working. I am armed with a multimeter and no sense of self-preservation. What should I start poking around to try to make this work again?

All my gay friends have done is offered to shower with me to warm it up.

Love this @frame.work desktop. Now I need another one with @oxide.computer green tiles.

Opdracht voltooid. De man moest even voor model spelen.
Deed hij graag voor het goede doel.
Waarschijnlijk woensdag op de post.
Morgen moet hij een expositie helpen opbouwen in Amsterdam.

You encountered a Light-ger!

This electrician's job is to make sure heaven has the right amount of lighting for all those plentiful pictures found in the image search results!

the surgery was a success, my 3D printer is now a full 12dB quieter in use than it was before, and the new fan doesn't have that sense-piercing high pitched whine tone in it anymore either. there's still three more fans I want to swap but two of them need voltages tuned and I have no multimeter lmao
