#Rosenstraße
I’m not an expert on WWII but this gather there is some debate as to how influential Rosenstrasse actually was on Nazi policy. But we do know that Goebbels was so worried about the optics that he mandated a media blackout. And foreign press got a hold of the story anyway thanks to word of mouth

Right, the Rosenstrasse Protests, also in 1943, when hundreds of German non-Jewish women spontaneously gathered outside the building in Berlin where the Nazis were holding their Jewish husbands and “mixed” family members prior to planned deportation to the camps. Almost all were released

Also IIRC the only time there was a major street protest against the Nazis, the Rosenstrasse protests, the protestors actually got what they wanted

Women were often the only people who *did* publicly oppose the Nazis.

Claremont jerk should read up on White Rose or the Rosenstrasse protests, for example.

4)History shows: successful resisters decided their boundaries in advance.

Denmark protecting Jewish neighbors—not spontaneous. Pre-decided moral framework.

Rosenstrasse women saving their husbands—they’d already decided “we don’t accept this.”

There was also the Rosenstrasse Protest, when many wives protested under direct threat of violence and secured the release of approximately 1800 of Jewish people.

Also

The Rosenstrasse protest was the only mass public demonstration by Germans in the Third Reich against the deportation of Jews

The protests, which occurred over the course of seven days, continued until the men being held were released by the Gestapo

Otpor removed Milosevic (defection of police, media, workers)

Bovino gets axed. I published a piece 10 years ago which reminded my audience that fascism, in its effort to maintain consensus among the in-group, would never kill members of the in-group. Rosenstraße is only the most obvious example. Good and Pretti came from Trump’s “in group” - white America.

I told my husband the same thing. Women who often mothers and wives have always protested when it’s danger. Argentinian mothers outside the Casa Rosada. German wives at Rosenstrasse protest. Our lives in service to those we love.

Hitler & Goebbels released these men as a PR stunt. Germans quieted, didn't protest much after-just like not executing AH lead 2 him being elected
WE CAN NOT STOP

There was never organized resistance like we are seeing, at even the smallest scale. Rosenstrasse was the only thing that comes close, it was the only mass protest in the nazi period and that was late in the day.

And remember the Rosenstrasse protests were way too little, way too late.

The largest protests in Germany before 1990: the 1989 East German Monday demonstrations, the 1953 uprising in the GDR, 1980s anti-nuclear rallies, the 1968 student protests, the 1943 Rosenstrasse protest, and the 1918-1919 revolution (approx 1 million).

No protests against ethnic cleansing.

There is a big difference between what is happening now and what happened in Germany. There was only one major protest in Germany as the Jewish people were rounded up by the Natzis.

As protests against ICE become an entrenched resistance in Minnesota, a reminder of the Rosenstrasse protest where the wives of Jewish men simply stood outside the prison and stared down SS officers for weeks until they relented.
