How much of Schumer's and Jeffries' timidity stems from fear of not being invited to visit homes in the Hamptons?
Tbh this is something we need to address across the board. Putting the Connections Crowd in charge of literally everything is a big part how we got in this fascist mess & why ours leaders—across institutions—are reluctant to take action to hold these bad actors accountable.
My policy hot take of the day is that if we want to get out of this authoritarian mess, policy shops need to hire fewer people from elite schools, because those pipelines favor people whose lives have been buffered from the kind of dynamics that would help them understand what's happening.

The President of the United States is insane; he talks insane, he walks insane, he behaves insane -- this is so dangerous, and the people who have the duty to act on it are too timid. I'm afraid many of us will die, literally die, from this timidity failing to protect us.

To be fair, it was stupid in 2016 and Starmer’s timidity in terms of an EU reset only makes the wound bleed more.

President or not, I will never understand their timidity.
Why they cower in fear over this bellicose and belligerent buffoon.
Why they bend over backwards to accommodate his every drug-fueled whim and why they've ceded their collective manhood to a petulant, ignorant, corpulent waste of space.

ㅤthe other’s timidity had the druid lightly laughing, not in mockery, but rather with light hearted sympathy.

ㅤ” oh, please, you’re perfectly alright. no need to apologize.
ㅤi always enjoy light conversation anyway - and this is * far preferable to the usual. “
He gives a very quick nod, probably too quick considering it caused his hood to cover his face, which he quickly pulls down.

"Yes! Apologies their just..very pretty and I was curious-

I didnt mean to bother you-"

ㅤglancing to the flowers, then back at the other. their worry slowly fading into more of a subtle smile.

ㅤ” oh - !
ㅤwell, i just like collecting them… pressing them, growing them in my garden.
ㅤy’know. “

ㅤshrugging as he spoke.

ㅤ” … does that answerr.. ? “

The fact about contemporaries is that they're doing the same thing on another railway line: one resents their distracting one, flashing past, the wrong way- something like that: from timidity, partly, one keeps one's eyes on one's own road.

And this one reason why the far right gains. Institutional apathy and timidity.

I’d be reassured if the government fired a warning shot towards those preaching sedition. It would help dispel the timidity emanating from Downing Street.

Paging @schumer.senate.gov and @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social :

This needs to be the party position. If nothing else, it’s where any “negotiation” has to start. Stop with the timidity.

Remember that politicians listen to the will of the people.
For decades the people have been "peaceniks", and we got timidity from the politicians.
With a more "hawkish" population, you will get more aggressive politicians.
It goes hand in hand.

Leader of the Liberal Democrats.

Labour's timidity is astounding and frankly frightening. They should all go watch Love Actually. 🤣
"The most corrupt president The United States have ever seen."

UK Member of Parliament Ed Davey does not mince words when characterizing Trump after his move to take Greenland.

🤞One thing certain, sure as day is light, and night is dark, the felon Trump-crew🤑💰 gets every opportunity *and* 3rd and 4th chances to 'come clean.' The timidity of some[in terms of time taken] is jaw-dropping, stunning, astonishing when compared to the poor.⚖️

He's ruining the low expectations and learned helplessness that Democratic leadership has carefully cultivated in their voting base, dispelling the lie that moral timidity must be the only way we can do things. After all, if it was this easy to just come out and say it, surely they'd have done so?

This is in fact an extraordinary speech from a PM, and well crafted too: he recognises the change in the world order without challenging Trump or the US directly; asserts Canada's place in the world community without either timidity or boasting. It is indeed a must read, because this is our future.

I don't know, it stink for them to have to fire him 2-3 years later because of David Stearns' timidity and overthinking.

“Timidity, incrementalism, and compromise are cancer in this environment. The enemy has jailbroken America, hacked its operating system, and turned it into an attack zombie against its own people and allies.”

I'm like genuinely unsure if Ricochi would be better cast as Constance or Scarlet.

On the one hand, Constance is her wheelhouse already. Similar kind of timidity as Uika throughout AveMyGO but still distinctive.

On the other, good lord I NEED to see her play a sardonic, unrepentant villainess

They are violating the Fourth Amendment rights of citizens by accosting them without probable cause.

They’re guilty of a plethora of state crimes, including - at a minimum - assault and battery.

Why aren’t state police arresting them? The timidity of blue states is enraging.

It's so sad that a trusted organisation has capitulated. The fear of being labelled elitist, has driven their producers, into timidity and blandness. Their News broadcasts sample real people's lives to illustrate trivial points - then generalise from there. Little scholarship or research involved

I think it was always leading to this. It hints that Tommy could have been Monty if he hadn't let the crash rattle him so much. Now Monty is gone, and his timidity cost him the company President gig. Everything was built to shake him awake.

I reposted this because liberal currents is great at appealing to normie-r tastes with more radical politics. But it’s funny to watch even this article re-gain the timidity framing when it suggests something as wild as…. freedom of movement with India.

I'd respect them more if this had been intentional. If they'd SET OUT to do this, saying, "If I had been a white Christian in 1963, I can only hope I'd have had the timidity and obtuseness of men like Holan B. Harmon and Earl Stallings." But they did this by accident. ON ML KING DAY!

Whatever actions you take, keep in mind that over the course of life, you will fail far more from timidity, procrastination, and carefulness than you will from just stepping up to the plate and, as we say in Australia, giving it a bloody go!

At the general meeting for my local (MAPE) we were told that MAPE could not issue a statement or recommend anything because that would be calling for a strike* which they can't do**. So, timidity seems to be the answer, standard for Mape.

*which it obviously wouldn't
**which they obviously can do
