Ishtar from geneaology of the holy war

Today I went down a rabbithole of Hawaiian geneaology because of a newsletter story with a piece of art (always gets me!) and it was quite lovely to see how significantly Kānaka Maoli my name is. I have so much to be thankful for 🙏🏽 being connected to Hawaii in this way feels like Pacific kuleana.

Family shame is the best: Around the time of this ad, one of my great uncles was struck out of the family geneaology because Aunt Sister (yes, that's what they called her) discovered that he'd run a profitable moonshine operation during Prohibition.

Guess I gotta read up on the actual law and maybe do some geneaology work. Pretty neato if true.

Researching Geneaology and:

my great grandpa “Martin” escaped from Prison and changed his name to pretend to be Buffalo Irish. It worked.

My wife’s great Grandpa was named Vincenzo but went by Charlie.

At some point between 1750 and 1900 people settled on spelling my last name
Baffled by transphobes insisting that the name on your birth certificate is Your True Name Forever when it was common in my grandparents' generation to just...pick a name you like and use that, nbd. I literally found out both of my grandma's birth certificate first names FROM THEIR OBITUARIES.

Went down the geneaology rabbit hole a bit. Not much to report except one of my ancestors, Donald MacGillivray, was nicknamed “Breac” or “Speckled”

My man was freckled like me!

Also found my GreatGpas WW2 draft card. He reported his height as 5’7 3/4” lmao

From the geneaology that I have done I have not found anyone who wasn't already here allt he way back to the 1840s, where I have a great great great grandfather that came here from Germany.

I still stand for the rights of immigrants.
Genuinely curious: If your family is American, what brought them here?
Mine: religious nuttery & primogeniture

I had not anticipated that it would become so exciting around page 840. Volume II of III of Habermas’ Also a History of Philosophy: the Project of the Geneaology of Postmetaphysical Thinking.

Like the klan activity arrests I keep finding while trying to do geneaology research aren't embarassing enough

Thanks Guys! Some research from our book on the geneaology. The Van Dykes, Thompsons, and Presley were around an older County in the 1700s that was either called Livingston and Christian Counties in County.

They migrated to St. Louis and Central Illinois during the late 1800s.

I finished Fire Emblem: Geneaology of the Holy War.

Long, somewhat messy, but overall a fascinating tactical RPG experience.

At long last, a definitive geneaology of ALL the Targaryens.

Nope, one of my ancestors exported himself and founded two countries, later on a descendent of his returned to Sweden with the customary pile of cash to be dug down in the garden.
From said reimigration person my familly tree spawned.
(so goes the geneaology at least)

It's certainly in Nietzsche in very explicit form. Geneaology of Morality, book 2, I believe.
