Isildur claiming the ring for himself was *awful* because only Sauron could actually use the power of the ring.

This lines up quite well with liberals and establishment democrats' absolute refusal to use the icky tactics of the republican party to enact real, meaningful change for Americans.

Saw a comment that was like "Zohran's Isildur at Mt. Doom moment," and if that isn't the most centrist lib bullshit I've ever heard. Fucking nerds.

Fucking nerds.

Zohran’s Isildur at Mt. Doom moment

His lover Miriel screams in terror as her body are engulfed by the snow-white sludge. Isildur goes under, with viscous bubbles and muffled cries rising from the goop.

I love that piece SO much, it’s up there with “Elendil and Isildur” as one of my favorites of the show.

Aragorn son of Arathorn, called Elessar, the Elfstone, Dúnadan, the heir of Isildur Elendil's son of Gondor would be vehemently opposed to everything ICE represents and does.

Just saying.

Oh fuck Isildur is such a good metaphor for billionaires. This is 🔥
February 4, 2026 at 12:57 AM
They may not know they are choosing evil, anymore than Isildur did (books not movies) when he kept the Ring, but the choice is still made.

It is impossible, literally, to be a billionaire without massive suffering and exploitation in your wake. It's the only way to be a billionaire.

Isildur arriving to Armenelos after s2:

prologue: a much greater stature than a man, terrible to behold, etc.

Gollum *saw* him. Gollum says that his finger never regenerated after it was cut by Isildur: “There are four fingers on the Black Hand, but they are enough.”

ISILDUR!

Throw it into the fire!

Movie Aragorn famously someone who yearned to take up the mantle of his forefather Isildur
February 2, 2026 at 1:46 AM
Movie Aragorn in particular is notably cynical about Isildur!

I don't think he would've killed Isildur, no. He would've Been An Example at him until he behaved.

Maedhros would've been too busy trying to stop Celegorm and Curufin from doing something even more deadly stupid than simply taking the Ring.
February 1, 2026 at 10:04 PM
I'd bet if it had been Finrod, like hell would Isildur have taken the Ring and buggered off. Our Finrod does not die for the sake of idiots who make stupid life choices.
February 1, 2026 at 9:58 PM
Isildur probably thought a degree of imprecision would be more impressive.
Or else he didn't know.
February 1, 2026 at 3:33 PM
January 31, 2026 at 6:58 PM
