We had an IVDD Frenchie and we got him a chair. First time we put him into it he was like “what the hell are you doing?!?” Then I tossed a tennis ball down the hall, he instinctively took a couple of steps toward it and suddenly he’s like “wait I CAN RUN AGAIN!!!”

Well, tonight was the beagle bamboozle. So back to follow up on expensive primary condition! (We suspect cervical IVDD, alas)

Sprightly less adventurous than those two. Frankie, the Black and Tan one had IVDD earlier this year, but she’s doing well. Wants to play with a ball all the time, but isn’t allowed to by her physio.

Also, might be best to get some earplugs. They are small, but they are a very vocal breed.

Playstation Wrapped 2025, yay~ this feels like it was available earlier this year and I was surprisingly able to log in with no issues, lol.

Kinda light year on PS for me, but I did have to spend 2 months sleeping on the floor (Coco's IVDD recovery) during the time I would usually be playing, lol.

ty! i was preparing for months. This IVDD just came in and snatched him away with quickness

Wellington has a waist! Wells has a history of IVDD (spine disc disease.) We like to keep those dogs at an ideal body condition. Dogs should have a bit of an hourglass figure from above with a gentle belly slope. He was a rectangle when he got here.
** Adjust their foods. Try a concave cup.

Jack always does that. Thankfully not off the back (thank god for walls), but off a lap or a couch. They try to jump up to the couch without using the stairs.

Melody is the only one who is actually graceful and deer-like who can jump up on everything. The ONLY dog who isn’t gonna get IVDD. 😒

Poor guy! Do they think IVDD? I know a couple dogs with that who did really well with strict crate rest and meds, fingers crossed for the little man.

There's a great book about IVDD written by a rehab vet.

Fingers crossed and yes if recovery was fast it was probably not 🙏🏽 other than all the info i have given - picking them up properly can reduce risk of injury. There are videos on how to lift ivdd dog. At least most of the dogs that get this are small! I can’t imagine lifting a great dane

And it’s tricky bc ivdd pain is a combo of muscle tension and nerve pain. So two meds one for regular pain and one for nerve pain. Nerve pain is like pins & needles so not yelp out loud and that’s why you’ll see altered posture but less vocalization. Gabapentin or another med like it for nerve pain

Yes that really does sound like ivdd… it’s hard to get even on xray. Only sure way is mri. In the states that’s $$ and we opted for xray with dental cleaning to rule out other causes and landed on ivdd by ruling others out. We also never went steroid route just pain/anti inflammatory for swelling.

Yes he has had ivdd symptoms since 10 and were super happy that he is still active and playful. 🥹 other dog is 5 and she has luxating patella had several slipped knee episodes and that’s tricky too

If you’re on fb look up ivdd in groups and you’ll find a bunch of info. We went in at first sign of not being able to jump and whining. Stopped all strenuous activity & kept him on meds for 14 days + crate rest for 2 months both flares. Og meds upset his stomach, new vet better meds helped 2nd time

Yes she had suspected ivdd a couple of weeks ago. Which doesn’t appear to have been the case, Mia is a shih tzu but still long body with short legs, I am worried about this happening though, as the vet said most dogs of this build will have spinal degeneration, and surgery is very expensive

One is a mix and small part dachsund - and he is the one with ivdd it impacts his back legs and after the first episode we got the ramp. He is head strong still ignored it. It was really scary we worried so much and bc we had the dna breed test I knew to get him treatment and what it was right away.

Oh leave it out my dogs did the same until they need it. they started using it & now they use it daily but still sometimes don’t use it. Even if they choose it half the time it will take the impact off their joints half the time. I have two small dogs a senior w/ivdd and a middle age one w/bad knee

🐾 Started our day stood at the sea under a rainbow! Early this year His Tiny Highness, Dave the dachshund, fell ill with IVDD & underwent spinal surgery & lots of physio to walk again - now he's finally reached the beach so it feels like a huge promise of better days to come...
