If you live near an Ocean State Job Lot store, they're currently collecting donations to help Alaskans displaced by the recent typhoon... indigenous villagers who've been moved to urban centers because their homes were destroyed.

Well, a LOT, actually. Through our partnership with the United Cajun Navy, Ocean State Job Lot is helping out multiple Alaskan towns that got hit hard by a recent, tragic tsunami. More than 2,000 people have been displaced and have lost pretty much everything. We're doing our part by donating much-needed items, including more than 1,000 warm coats and thousands of pounds of food.
We'd love your help in donating even more! You can donate any amount at our registers to help raise funds to provide warm clothing for the people in Alaska who are in desperate need. Together, we are making a difference!

CT Shoreline folks.... any recommendations for good vet ERs?

We've been using Central Hospital for Veterinary Medicine but it's been one awful experience after another with them, and I'm done.

For everyone concerned about cats in the western Alaska villages affected by the typhoon, here's some info:

For those not familiar with rural Alaskan Villages, not a lot of cats live out here. There are many reasons, but the cost alone to get litter shipped in is a valid one.
You haven't seen any pictures of cats being rescued yet simply because none live out there! It was reported to us that no cats lived in Kipnuk and we haven't been informed of any in any of the other Villages yet.
Our rescue sees an average of 3-5 cats through our door a year. We're happy to help them when they need it! Like this little guy pictured 🙂
We do have some cat food for when we receive cats, so we are good right now. If you would like to support the rescue cats of Alaska, you can donate to our partners AK Cat and Dog Rescue or @Clear Creek Cat Rescue

I’m still thinking about this, actually.

School kids go through mass shooter drills these days the way we went through fire drills when we were their age. And it’s OUR fault. The least we can do is let them have their own ridiculous and loud JOY. “6-7” makes it them laugh and they’ve EARNED it.
