I imagine you know about the Russian Megagrant awarded to lethal fraud and now imprisoned Paolo Macchiarini? The grant was for transplanting plastic tracheae magically brought to life by stem cell glop. Swedish TV made a documentary about how all the patients died. Won an award too.

Today I'm going to ship my last product (with an Epic MegaGrant!) at the company I work for and then I will get 2 weeks of PTO until my contract ends.

It's been taking a toll on me so now I'm moving on and I'm going to take a break to take care of my physical and mental!

Про це повідомила команда Dream Operator у своїх соцмережах. Туконі: Хранителі Лісу — це казковий затишний квест з головоломками. Гравець керує духом Туконі у чарівному осінньому лісі: спілкується з милими лісовими мешканцями, вирішує задачі, заварює ароматний чай і веде записник. Гру засновано на серії книг української художниці Оксани Були. Пролог-версія вийшла в 2020 році, а повноцінну гру анонсували під час Wholesome Direct 2024. Epic MegaGrants — це програма грантів від Epic Games, створена для підтримки незалежних розробників, освітніх ініціатив та інших проєктів, пов’язаних з Unreal Engine або ігровою індустрією загалом. Гранти розміром від $5 000 до $500 000 допомагають командам у всьому світі втілювати творчі ідеї, і з 2019 року вже понад 3 000 проєктів отримали фінансування.

I also did not get the megagrant I applied for with this project; and needless to say it was extremely disappointing to not get a node from Epic for all the work that went in the plugin, maintenance, etc.

Btw, this doesn't stop anything with Scythe. Even in my megagrant app, I said Scythe was going to be released one way or another.

I'll still be working on Scythe as much as I can to get to the official release on Fab.

If it makes you feel better, a ton of people are reporting that their application to a Megagrant was rejected as well

Apparently, a recent lawsuit related to Fortnite that Epic lost (where they have to compensate economically players i think i read), could potentially be the reason why

Sadly, Scythe wasn't selected for a Megagrant. I thought for sure this is exactly the kind of thing they want for UE.

Infintesimals is a project I've been following since (maybe even before!) this Polycount thread in 2018: polycount.com/discussion/1...

One guy basically look-dev-ed this game into existance for years, untill being funded by an Epic Megagrant like a classical patronage, and growing a tiny studio.

Infinitesimals, a new sci-fi action game, lets players control tiny aliens in a vast micro-world filled with stealth and combat.

After a successful demo, the game is now in active production, backed by an Epic Games MegaGrant.

Absolutely, if someone asks if you're a god, you say YES.

Only "awards" my games have won are Apple Game of the Week awards (3x for two games, it's weird, I know) and things I largely contributed to won the Epic MegaGrant twice 🤷

No GameAward trophies in my very empty awards case, unfortunately.
