It's that or a £3 bottle with a flimsy lid NOTHING IN BETWEEN

Subscription model for sure. I know a lot of people have been switching lately, and I bet they feel confident enough to start going for Adobe's business model.

USB cables obviously another, you just have to rely on buying Anker or Ugreen forever. But that's technology! Plastic bottles are ubiquitous! It shouldn't be hard to find an inexpensive one that survives a year of dishwasher use.

My least favourite thing to purchase now is something that I know by all rights should be cheap, but I want one that's not shit, or overpriced dropshipper crap.

Example: A simple protein shaker bottle that won't deteriorate in the dishwasher. The idea of even looking on amazon for one exhausts me.

I think I can be generous here and read it as 'People like the world and writing of Portal, and Valve could make a successful puzzle game ala portal without the portal mechanic specifically.'
I certainly wouldn't say you can make Portal *without* a hook! Thats just some YT clickbait.

The fact that the daily spikes are visible on Balatro's graph gives an indication of how crazy well it has done lol.

That's a phenomenon usually seen on AAA releases and live service games.

And now I think I'm going to mentally find and replace "AI" with "activated charcoal" on product listings.
fearian.bsky.social
I was trying to explain to a non-techy person why AI is in the marketing of every product.
"you know how for a while every health or beauty product contained 'Activated Charcoal'?..."

This was the point where I thought I might not have the energy for silksong, but the amount that the game opens up after this boss was a breath of fresh air.

How do you bake your curl noise textures? Substance?

Studies show stormtroopers presence may deter crime! Maybe using the military on its civilian population is good, actually?
Unrelated news, emperor palpatine enters his 20th year in office today-

My daughter has brought 'why' to Astrobot.
As in: "Why is there lava? Why is that an octopus? Why is it spikes there? Why is that rolling?" Etc.
To which I can only ever reply "Because it makes the game hard/fun" - and suddenly I'm doing the Difficulty In Games discourse with a 3yr old.

This is the only fair answer to someone making a post like that.

My finished FFTactics piece, just in time for the The Ivalice Chronicle release. Excited to pour another 100 hours into this masterpiece all over again!!

I'm enjoying that a code editor would give spelling mistakes in the form of a human readable error log.

about 15 shard bundles of tools to take down this tank!

3 Bosses on the map, and 2 enemy rooms (High Halls and Deep Docks) left to clear.
fearian.bsky.social
...And thats it for all the tool shards I farmed, so next time I play, it's going to mean farming for a bit. 🙃

And speaking of loose threads... Savage Beastfly round 2.

Pimpillo for the adds, just one cogfly at a time to keep the poison ticking.
fearian.bsky.social
Pimpillo and cogflys feel super strong, so I guess I shoud finally kill Moorwing.

Okay, this guy first, because then I get a needle upgrade.

I now have 8 boss fight map markers in Silksong at the end of act 2. I've really been enjoying the platforming challenges, and exploring such a detailed world for secrets... But the tool economy just puts me off completely. Even if I wanted to spend an evening grinding the same boss. (not really).

This would go well with a bingo card:
"We need to update that actually"
"I don't know why we don't use those"
"I'm not sure what those bits are"
"Nope, can't find it. It must be in another scene".
