Neurochemistry notes?

Either working in a drug discovery lab, ideally for a company like novo Nordisk so I can flee the country, or becoming a neurologist.

Neurochemistry and pharmacology have been special interests of mine but my math skills weren't good enough to do the prerequisites for an MD or PharmD.

I am NOT a psychiatrist, but Tulsi has for a LONG time (10+ years) - to ME - exhibited symptoms I have seen with paranoid schizophrenics I have known.

Whether by choice or neurochemistry, she was a clear danger to this country when confirmed.

Shame on the Senate cowards.

Exclusive: A U.S. official has alleged wrongdoing by U.S. spy chief Tulsi Gabbard in a complaint that is so highly classified it has sparked months of wrangling over how to share it with Congress, according to people familiar with the matter.

Congress hasn’t seen the complaint, which was filed eight months ago with the U.S. intelligence community watchdog’s office.

I think the first thing I'm gonna do when I get my ADHD medicine (and get it settled in my neurochemistry) is take twice as much as I'm supposed to do, and then work through my FA notifications.

I'll probably nuke the Journals, though.

Idk, maybe the 2020 lockdowns rearranged my neurochemistry to where I actively seek out opportunities to open up. I always saw myself as an introvert before alone time at home became a mandate rather than a luxury. #NotAloneTalk

Alas! Your neurochemistry isn't playing with the caffeine. I pout for you.

It evidently takes a long time to adjust. It makes me question quantum consciousness. I found out some things about my neurochemistry. I naturally lack dopamine which will cause psychotic episodes if left untreated. It's fascinating but requires balance and learning curve. Have to sleep ever night😐.

Thrilled to announce Prof Henrik Zetterberg as our second plenary speaker!

A globally renowned expert in neurochemistry, his plenary on 25 years of research on biofluid-based biomarkers will be a perfect close for the #ARUKconf.

The Glial Revolution: How Aging Brain Support Cells Drive Neurodegeneration A new review in the Journal of Neurochemistry proposes a fundamental shift in our understanding of brain aging and disease. Moving beyond the traditional focus on neurons, the authors argue that age-related dysfunction in glial cells—astrocytes and microglia—is a primary driver of neurodegeneration. As these support cells age, they become senescent, releasing inflammatory factors that disrupt synaptic organization, impair metabolic support, and create a toxic environment that erodes neuronal resilience.

The Glial Turn: How Aging Brain Cells Drive Neurodegeneration A comprehensive review in the Journal of Neurochemistry argues for a fundamental shift in understanding neurodegenerative diseases, moving from a neuron-centric model to one focused on glial networks. The authors propose that age-related dysfunction in non-neuronal cells, particularly astrocytes, is a primary driver of brain decline. As these glial cells become senescent, they release inflammatory signals and disrupt the brain's metabolic and synaptic environment, creating a vulnerable landscape that precedes and precipitates neuronal loss in conditions like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.

The Glial Turn: How Aging Brain Cells Drive Neurodegeneration A comprehensive review in the Journal of Neurochemistry argues for a fundamental shift in our understanding of neurodegenerative diseases, moving from a neuron-centric model to one focused on dysfunctional glial networks. The authors detail how astrocytes and microglia, the brain's support cells, become senescent with age, acquiring a harmful secretory profile. This chronic state of glial dysfunction and neuroinflammation disrupts synaptic integrity and metabolic support, creating a vulnerable environment that precedes and drives neuronal loss in conditions like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.
