I had discussions about this for ages with different stakeholders and I believe that data obtained through public funding MUST be accessible to all for academic research purposes (including not-for-profit enterprises) but for-profits should pay appropriately. Not sure about COSMIC‘s business model.

I instantly switch off whenever someone uses "fan fiction" as a derogatory term. I'm not a writer and I know a lot of fan fic authors who are wonderful, hard working, passionate and skilled people but even if I didn't, something made out of love/isn't for profit doesn't mean bad by default.

In a more reasonable world, any politician who expressed a desire to have anything named after them would be seen as unfit for the job. Trump not only wants things to be named after him, but also to profit from it.

Does it? I guess you could tinker with the amounts. But for an iterative vaccine, what's going to matter is profit/dose. And there's a lot more poor people than rich people, so I think the rich world ends up paying more for meds regardless of how you structure it.
