Large red brick cube-shaped building in the snow. There are three vertical recessed panels in the center that are filled in with a different shade of red brick. I'm not sure whether or not those used to be windows or something else. Along the base of the parapet is a band of limestone and below that, a row of mosaic tiles with a diamond pattern, characteristic of von Holst's work.

The orthoceratoid Michelinoceras anguliferum, sporting a natty set of zigzags along its shelll, is probably better dressed than most of us today. Here, it's inflicting a fashion attack on a buried worm. Cambrian polychaete Canadia spinosa is shiny, thanks to structural colouration. A minor pile up between three migrating trilobites, Eldredgeops rana. The red dots on these animals are strange translucent lenses that might, it's speculated, be windows for pigmentation through their carapaces. Two Dieneroceras subquadratum conversing about life as drifters in Triassic plankton. The banding pattern on their shells is fossil accurate, although the exact colours are unknown.

Double House, Gloucester is typical of Edward Hopper’s approach to architectural subjects. It was executed in the 1920s, during one of the artist’s several trips to the Massachusetts seaside village of Gloucester. Hopper drew this Greek Revival wood-frame house from across the street, cropping out nearby structures to isolate his subject. The two-family house looms large within the composition, its slightly elevated position lending an even more imposing presence. Hopper rendered the complex formal structure in bold outline, precisely delineating the arrangement of windows, shutters, doors, and rchitectural details. Though it has no observable inhabitants, the solitary dwelling conceals an implicit human presence, a suspended narrative, suggested by the alternating pattern of open and shuttered windows that evokes the ebb and flow of daily life.

Hulking three-story brick apartment building with a stone facade and a grocery store on the front of the first floor. There is a round stone turret on the corner with both smooth and rough stone, multiple windows, and a domed roof that comes to point and has a weather vane on top of it. The facade is mostly rusticated stone but has smooth stone pillars running vertically between the windows and smooth stone lintels. At the top is an arched pediment containing an oval-shaped window opening and carved swirl decoration. Three-story corner building faced in smooth stone except for the rough stone bordering the windows. The star of the show here is the cornice and turret, which are either metal or wood, and lavishly decorated. The cornice has dentiling, multiple brackets, some with a leaf design, and other gingerbread including a wreath with a bow, interlocking ovals, and arched sunbursts. The turret has all the decoration on the cornice, plus panels of crisscrossed lines with fleur-de-lis in each diamond formed by the crossing pattern. The cornice and turret are painted white and the decoration is dark green and dark red.

#OnThisDay 160 years ago, my local station Peckham Rye opened. A hidden gem within the impressive Charles Henry Driver building is the waiting room, later used as a billard hall then abandoned. I visited in 2018 for the 'Open House' weekend, it will hopefully see more use soon.
Inside the magnificent old waiting room at the top of the impressive Peckham Rye station building. Five arched windows at the far end front onto the platform towards Victoria, while five arched windows to the right face Rye Lane. The floor is bare wood and the ceiling is an intricate pattern of vaulted beams.

Another glimpse at Neoto City, with even more chunky buildings adorned with neon signs and a winding road at the bottom with a dark tunnel entrance with arrows pointing that that's where the race is happening, so quit your sightseeing. The Martian Outworld mining complex, now with even more spire-like floating structures with saucers on top of them and a big dome like megabuilding, kinda looking like a birthday cake with tall spikes with green lights on its edges, looking like birthday candles. Since the building is octagonal and there's a "candle" on each of the edges, it means that the building is 8 years old. Happy Birthday, dome-shaped structure of doom! A beautiful snow covered paradise ruined by what looks like a hangar with rollcage cars and a hovertank (with the inflatable bottom kind, not actually floating) ruining the beautiful vista. It almost looks like a luxury parking space for some rich asshole tech bro that has a freakin' tank in its vehicle fleet. Either that or a Bond villain, but to be frank there's no difference these days is there. The inside of what almost looks like a shopping mall or a large square with a glass ceiling, purple checkered pattern blocks on the floor and some phone booths and some kind of information center booth in the middle, set between two sides of the building, surrounded by the yellow lights of the windows. The crazy thing about this space is that it's just part of the scenery, it's a large building seen on the side of the road, completely cut off with safety rails so you can't actually drive through it even though it looks detailed enough to be a part of the track. Looks awesome!
