Here'e the mom Northern Lapwing. Never noticed it at the time, but looking at the photo, I notice she is ringed (banded). She has that aluminum ring on her left leg, but can't see the complete number from the photo. #BirdingHungary #shorebirds #waders #plovers #PloverLover #birds

The little plover chick can feed itself right from birth. Its father stays nearby during its growth to protect it from the many dangers of the beach. #BirdArt 🪶 #animalart #SciArt #naturalist 🌿 #shorebirds #plover #ploverlover #cutebird #wildlifeart #babybird #birdillustration #natureillustration

One for #WaderWednesday .. an alternate plumage New Zealand (or Red-breasted) Dotterel (Anarhynchus obscurus). On the North Island, they are reasonably common, but the South Island subspecies is critically endangered. #BirdingNewZealand #birds #birding #waders #shorebirds #plovers #PloverLover

3 mountain plover chicks in their nest shortly after hatching. Against the odds, ALL 3 of these chicks survived to fledging (the point at which their flight feathers are large enough to achieve flight)!
